Scenic prairie area, also near International Peace Gardens, great places to dine, fishing, hiking trails, bike paths, something for everyone. Also good to visit in winter. There is the Bottineau Winter Park and snowmobile trails.

Pretty Lake and lots to see and do. Didn't have a lot of time, but liked what we did see. Plan on visiting there again!

This is a beautiful place to visit in the fall! We spent 2 nights at the Loon Lodge within Lake Metigoshe State Park. A very solid little cabin tucked way back on the North end of the park. There are several cabins for rent - but the Loon Lodge met our needs. We went hiking both days and saw beautiful fall foilage and wildlife. We were there the morning of the first frost of the season and it was such a pretty crisp morning! The trails were well-groomed and easy to navigate for most hikers. They lead from prairie to woods to lakeside. The only complaints we have was the water in the cabin smelled awful - like eggs! And the matresses were sub-par.

We camped in a motohome for four days. The restrooms and showers were about average. The setting was nicely integrated into the natural surroundings with several nature/hiking trails. The aspen trees were teaming with birds, particularly American Redstarts.

We were visiting with some friends from Alberta who were staying with family in Deloraine and decided to go to the lake for a day. The park itself is pretty, but not very accommodating. It took us more than a couple of hours to find a fire pit to cook some supper with. The staff at the store told us where to find one, but didn't give great directions. They also seemed a little snobbish, like they didn't want to be there and were taking it out on the customers. We found the fire pits in a picnic area just outside of the main park area. It was a pretty area, great for dogs and kids to run around in and it seemed well taken after. Overall, it was a nice place, but seemed to be made more for people with cabins there or people who know the area well.

Camped here with a group of about 12 people we are all in our mid-twenties. We had several campsites right next to the lake and had the area to ourselves which was nice. The campsites were very wide open though, so it was hard to get protection from rain or set up overhead tarps.Canoes are available for rent and was a lot of fun- definitely recommended! There was a line up for the womens showers in the mornings and it was a far walk from our campsite so consider distance to modern washroom if camping with small children etc...

I look forward to going here. Always enjoyable. It's one of the cheaper get-aways you can find in ND. I recommend and would love to go back

Great State Park with nice lakeside beach, lots of hiking trails that wrap around small remote lakes. Good sized, wooded campsites with lots of privacy.

Lake Metigoshe State Park is a beautiful, tucked away bit of natural woodland and lakes in the Turtle Mountain area of North Dakota. The actual Lake Metigoshe is pretty but totally crowded with cabins and people--within the boundaries of the park, however, are much more pristine, untouched areas including a beautiful place called School Section Lake--completing within the park's boundaries, so there is nary a cabin to be seen (though there was a beaver dam!). The park has great hiking and canoeing trails during the summer and cross country skiing in winter. There are a few rustic cabins to rent as well as canoe rentals available. I was there for a class, but I would LOVE to go back and stay a few days to wander around in the forest, canoe the lakes, ride the bike trail around Metigoshe . . . You can't buy food in the park, but the just-down-the-road resort area has restaurants and convenience stores, and the nearby town of Bottineau has grocery stores and a Walmart and Pamida.
