It's a typical casino in the Midwest. Lots of smoke and very loud. Beverage service is limited, but they do have a coffee and soda station that is self serve. Bar usually has live music on the weekends. Buffet is a bit overpriced but cafe next to buffet has a good selection at a reasonable price.

We went to Dakota Magic for three days in October for a tattoo convention. We didn't stay in the hotel, but we did spend a lot of time in the convention center as well as played some slots and ate in the restaurants. All three of us that played won right away, and two of us left with more than we put in. The rewards card is a definite must. It was also my birthday month, so I got an extra bonus with casino bucks to play with and a free drink. The convention center is good sized and very nice, but not equipped to run very many people on the network. We had some internet problems for most of the weekend. The buffet wasn't anything special and neither was the restaurant. It was edible, but on the way home we stopped at Applebee's because we wanted semi-decent food. It's a fun place to go, but there isn't a lot around it. The resort we ended up staying at was an hour away and it was the nicest place we could find.

If your in the Tri-State Corner - North Dakota / South Dakota / Minnesota then stop by the Dakota Magic. For a while friends were saying to avoid this place - Poor management - Employees that make sure you didn't feel welcome. But it's back to it's wonderful charm. You feel like part of the Tribe's Family. Staff that smile and show you they care about your totally experience. Facilities have been and are being renewed. Looks like the tribal Chairman - Hon. Robert Shepherd put his mark on this Casino making it a great experience.

12 of us went there for a little get together on a Saturday night. All 12 people lost between 300 and 1300 dollars. One girl put 260 bucks into a Pompeii machine only betting 50 cents a spin until she finally got into the bonus where she won 1 buck! Talking to some of the locals and a few were saying that the gaming commission has been lobbied right out of the regulating/ commissioning all together. It happened in Minnesota and now it looks like it has happened in North Dakota.

I wanted to share my experience, but am having a tough time, as it's a mixed bag. The hotel is very nice, nothing luxurious, but good clean rooms and reasonably priced. Be sure to get their member card at the registration desk, it's awesome value with VLT credits and discounts on hotel rooms and meals. If you are fortunate enough to have you birthday or anniversary the month you visit, like we did, you get complimentary drinks and free buffet. They had a live band at 9 in the lounge and they were very good.My issue is the staff and the level of customer service, very important to me when on vacation. The problem is there is no consistency among the staff. On our arrival we visited the gift shop and it was like we were such an inconvenience wanting to buy something, not rude, but certainly indifferent. The next morning, the clerk at the same gift shop was so nice we really felt welcome. We encountered this indifference with many and we also experienced very friendly and welcoming staff, so had trouble rating this.The casino is a decent size offering VLTs, poker and blackjack.

liked all the different games and I liked winning. the comps are generous and there is a wide variety for such a small casino. liked the small casino because i never got lost

Not the best ventilation. Very smoky and the non-smoking section is way in a corner after you walk through the smoke filled area.

stopped in for supper which was very good, the buffet is not as good as I expected, They have all the newest machines only wish my luck had been better

Dakota Magic is a normal indian casino. It is located at the exit off the interstate. Their is no problem finding it. Reason I stopped here was to play their adjacent golf Course. The casino was smoky and I stayed only about 30 minutes. Slots were very tight. Would not bother to stop here again.

Typical casino fare. Slot machines mostly penny and dollar, with one bank of quarter slots. The is a high statkes slot area, black jack and craps. There could be more but those are the things I saw. We ate at the buffet. There was a pretty fare selection, but everything was bland. Im sure the food is geared toward the average customer, that being older folks who probably like more bland food. I probably would not eat the buffet here again. The cost was about $15 per person. Be warned, you will smell like smoke when you leave. Smoking and alcohol are both alowed on the gaming floor.

The prime rib was very good. A little under done. Breakfast buffet was very good the next morning. My only complaint would be the help working the line would take off. So you would have to wait forever to get meat cut or cut it yourself.

This casino consistently offers some really good shows from a variety of musicians and they are all good. Love the auditorium and the seating.The casino itself is ok, although they have got some new machines in recently that livened the place up a little.

Average, expensive food with smoke everywhere. Poor payouts, bad environment.

I am a non smoker so walking into the casino I am consumed by the smell smoke. Even in the hotel room which was non-smoking, I had to leave early just couldnt take the smell anymore.

well ill tell you its not magic there... when you gamble money there its the same as any other casino.. you have more of a chance to loose than to win...
