This trail is constructed on the power line right of way and runs along the freeway in parts so it is not so picturesque in places, but it is wide and paved and protected from traffic along much of the route. This makes it a good choice for walkers, runner and bike riders. There are a variety of hill grades and one optional side route goes through a pretty forest by the civic center. Bathrooms are available at a couple of points along the trail and parking is available at several places also so you can choose an access point and only do part of it. It also intersects a shopping area with places to eat and a park that is dog friendly. For Geocachers there are caches all along the trail. One series that combines several caches with clues to a final cache is a series that I placed and maintained. Check the Geocaching website for the 'Caching Cushman' Series.
Excellent for walking, jogging. Running or biking. Well maintained. Best way to get your "outdoor" workout.
A beautiful way to hike the area, take some of the alternate trails, follow the signs. Great exercise!
It is a gently slopping trail, through the city. Trail is under expansion to make it longer so you can avoid streets.
I really enjoy the paved trail system as it allows us to walk to various parts of Gig Harbor from where we live, and when they finish the North section it will really be awesome. There are gentle rolling hills, bathrooms and steep inclines to get your work out on but the trail isn't lit. Dangerous unless you go during the daylight, which is fairly scarce in the long PNW winter/rainy season.
Love being away from cars; like its hilly nature (good exercise); some portions have great views. Fun to walk or bike.Hate it when "serious cyclists" whiz by from behind at high speeds without the courtesy of a bell or verbal warning.
Tails is kept very well. Great for walking, jogging or cycling. People we met on the trail were polite and courteous. We use it often with the kiddos.
What a Great place for the people of this community to have available to use. So nice being able to get out so close to nature and enjoy the outdoors.
You won't be disappointed by the scenery or the exercise on this uncrowded bike and walking path that takes you over the Tacoma Narrows too. And the good news is that it is now expanding out north of Gig Harbor.
Wow! The best of all worlds; beautiful tree-lined trail and it's paved! It is 6 miles or approx. 10 if you want to go through the harbor front downtown. There are many places for ingress and egress. GoonOne for a map.
This trail takes you all around the harbor and you can stroll along for half a day, enjoying nature and the sea air.
I have taken our dog for a walk along this trail and liked it a great deal. Also will use it for biking in the future.
We've enjoyed this walk many times over the past few years when we've stayed at the nearby RV Resort. It's lovely and you can keep your feet from getting muddy when it's been raining because it's paved. Views are nice.
I just love trails, and this one is quite wide. It is vandalized in areas by local kids, but is free of trash. The trail is used by walkers and bicyclist a like. Sometimes there are problems of the two, usually when a walker is wearing a ear bud, talking with friends or a dog on a very long leash. Also most of the cyclists slow very little when nearing any walkers and seldom give a warning. The trail is often too close to Highway 16 and therefore somewhat noisy.
I was very happy when they put this trail in. I ride my bike on it, I walk my dogs there and do lots of walking with the wife there. It is a nice blend of
