You'll always get a good show at the Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways in Kent. They have made a lot improvements in their grandstand seating and soon will have a new drag strip if everything goes as planned. We look forward to that day. They need to spend a little more to remodel their tower to compete with many of the Midwest tracks. Their possibilities are endless.
Attended the NHRA Nationals at Pacific Raceways and had a great time! A fun carnival atmosphere with lots of adrenaline pumping action watching the racing. The only downside is that I would caution anyone who wants to "join" the Finish Line Club to be aware that you pay $50/person and you get a burger that was cooked sometime during the preceding 24 hours and/or a polish hot dog. No chips...no dessert of any kind. That is your "catered" meal. Water or soda is available but you pay for beer or anything alcoholic. Very overpriced for what you get. Other than that...a great time at the races!
I had a great time over the 4th of July weekend watching the vintage car races. Easy access to the pits, good viewing of the corkscrew from the infield, and very friendly people all over the place!I would like to see a few more food vendors with a wider selection of food. Also, I expect prices to be high, and these didn't disappoint - I'd try to knock a dollar or so off the usual fare - burgers, hot dogs, etc. And, be sure to bring sunscreen! not a lot of shade!
Pacific Raceways has it all: go-cart track, drag strip, motocross and a 2.25 mile road course with 300 ft of elevation change. Exiting the very high speed Turn 2, the track enters the forest and heads steeply downhill to Turns 3 and 3A. It then winds through the thick forest to the Turn 5, 5A, 6 & 7 complex as it raises back up to the level of the front straight. The track has been recently been repaved in multiple sections correcting most of the previous asphalt imperfections. The racing school at the track, Proformance Racing School, is a fully accredited High Performance and Competition Driving School. Voted in 2011, by Seattle Met Magazine as 1 of 30 Best Day Trips in the Seattle Area. The owner and chief instructor is Don Kitch, Jr. He is great.
