Good bold red wines and port. Very unique winery. Mike is a top notch vintner. Has extensive knowledge about the area and its history.

The man here was so sweet, he gave me a bag of corks for free after he asked if I crafted with them. The wine on the other hand, was terrible. The atmosphere, was terrible. It was very warm the day we visited, over 90 degrees, no AC inside. The wine was not chilled... I would not recommend this stop.

The vintners were the most experienced and knowledgeable that we found in the area. They answered every process-related question we had. The atmosphere was somewhat like a chemistry lab, rather than a faux Tuscan facade -we loved it! Ports, sherries, and wines. Lots of local knowledge.

This is a unique winery in the Yakima Valley. You will find a wide variety of port-style and late harvest wines, from a knowledgeable and interesting winemaker.

We were attending the 25th Annual Catch the Crush in late September 2011! Hinzerling is a very unusual winery. they have a building for people who desire a bed and breakfast experience, which I understand people enjoy very much. But the buildings and winery is very low budget "Mom and Pop" style which can both present a very personal experience and uncomfortable one at the same time.The wines are very enjoyable, or have spoiled, the tasting area is very run down and quite frankly dirty. In CA I'm not certain the facility would be allowed to operate due to health code violations (primarily cleanliness). But perhaps I'm too harsh.The curator was very pleasant and generous at times. We enjoyed discussing wine with him, and he also offered vinegar tasting. All in all I appreciated there is still a personal experience to contrast the corporate wine industry and I wish the best to this winery.
