Even with a chill in the air, no one was dissuaded from this pleasant walk along the beachside, along a long dockside, and into Fairhaven. The pleasant stop halfway through for coffee made the trip perfect.
Out over the ocean, beside the ocean, through a park and down a nature trail. Lovely, breath taking and enjoyable every single time.
Next time you visit Bellingham, make sure to detour to the Fairhaven District and take a walk along this beautiful trail. Then stop for lunch at one of the great restaurants in the area.
An urban trail that's quiet, clean and scenic. Whether by foot or bike, this is a great way to get from south Bellingham to Fairhaven. Much of the trail is within Boulevard Park and the park has waterfront and facility options. Taylor Dock is a short detour worth the time.
We have visited Fairhaven before and find it to be a gem of a place with great stores and eateries. We took the trail for a late summer walk and found it to be as wonderful. From the signs posted there are plans in place to extend the walkway over the water, so we can't wait to explore that when it is finished.
My wife and I live the seafront in Bellingham, definitely a must see and do for anyone visiting this beautiful little gem of a city by the sea. Love this place!
Enjoy the waterfront of Bellingham from the City to Fairhaven (3 miles round trip) and take in a beach or cafe stop. Crowded on sunny days but always a friendly and casual place to meet friends.
Access at Fairhaven for a 2.5 mile walk (or portion) to downtown. Walkway out over the water, a waterfront park with a great coffee shop halfway between. Gorgeous on a sunny day and not at all crowded mid week.
We have done pieces of this walk with grandchildren and without. It's paved. There are scenic views of the bay. There is a coffee shop an route and a playground. Cyclists and dog walkers, joggers, people young and old use this city gem.
This is a great place to be outside! You can sit at Woods coffee and enjoy the view, or take a stroll on the path over the water. If you keep a sharp eye out, you can see marine wildlife.
Long scenic boardwalk over the water, links to a wooded trail that leads you all the way to downtown Bellingham. Very well-groomed trail, felt safe, full of runners, walkers, and cyclists.
Great city trail, with a boardwalk stretch over the water leading to one of the best coffee shop locations anywhere! You can continue on a land-based path to the Saturday Market, about 2.2 miles one way from Fairhaven to downtown Bellingham.
We started our bike ride where the trail begins near the Fairhaven Park and rode into downtown Bellingham. The area where you need to cross State Street will be eliminated in 2015 when the trail extension will be finished. Then it is direct from Fairhaven to downtown B'ham totally on a trail.
This trail is along the Lake Whatcom. There are some areas to jump in for a cool off after a long hot walk. There is also a waterfall on the trail. The round trip is about 6 miles...flat terrain. Great for family with young kids.
This is a lovely, scenic place for a good long walk, not too crowded. Access via Bellingham or Fairhaven.
