Took a group of school children and these folks bent over backwards to help. It is a small museum, but worth seeing. They also have several historic properties like the Marsh-Johnson house which has been lovingly restored and the Butler-Bonham house. The theater next door belongs to them and they use it for community functions. Just super nice folks.
The Saluda County Museum, operated by the Saluda County Historical Society, contains a wealth of information about the area. Particularly noteworthy is Saluda's connection to Texas. This is the birthday place of James Butler Bonham and William Barret Travis, both of whom died defending the Alamo. The Society operates Flat Grove, the house in which Bonham was born. There is also a historical marker indicating the birthplace of Travis. As part of the museum is the old Saluda theater, and tours are provided. The people who operate the museum are friendly and the source of a wealth of information. While admission to the museum is free, donations are welcomed.
