We loved every wine here. We were the only people there-it was pouring down rain and at first we did not think they were open. This is small winery, off the beaten path, but do make the effort and don't let the appearance sway you. Every wine here was just wonderful. I wish I could figure out a way to get it home to Louisiana without paying an arm for shipping. The drive here from Elkin would be lovely in nice weather-GO!
We have been to Flint Hill Vineyards several times and we are never disappointed. Their cabernet sauvignon is very good as are their other wines. The owner/wine maker is fun and very knowledgeable and helpful. If you like big red wines give them a try. Their other less dry wines are also good but not our cup of wine.
Have been following them for a number of years. Can't miss dry wines.Hate the kitchen is not serving on a full time basis. Loved the combination!
Very surprised enjoyed all the wines!! Not Chardonnay drinker but this was the best & bough several to take home.
The tastings are always fun and informative. There are often new releases which can be tasted. It is a very relaxed atmosphere and there is no pressure to buy anything.
We visited in about 2009. There weren't many wines and they weren't that good then but the food in the restaurant was great and the dining experience awesome. We need to go back to see if the wines have improved.
The Flint Hill Vineyards wound up being a really nice treat for us. First of all, it's a small winery that ships their wines to the Ray-Len winery for blending and bottling. The real treat (allure) at the Flint Hill Vineyards is that old historical Country Home that has been (and continues to be) renovated and has remained in their family for quite some time.. Inside the gorgeous building is a wine tasting area and a restaurant. They used to have the Century Kitchen there - an absolutely first rate restaurant that we've had the pleasure of eating in on several occasions. The cuisine was absolutely first rate and the old restaurant ambiance made everything absolutely superb. As it stands now however, the restaurant is no longer open full time (which is a shame really), but business decisions had to be made and now the restaurant is opened periodically to showcase visiting Chef's. The restaurant can also be rented out (weddings, etc.) from what I understand. Just visit their website or call 'em a call for more details. As for the wines - they are absolutely superb. We enjoyed most of them and we wound up purchasing a case of varies wines. I've attached some photos taken when we visited (hopefully Trip Advisor will allow them to accompany this review) - but we actually visited in November of 2010 (not 2011), but the review checklist only allowed us to choose months during 2011. So we strongly recommend the Flint Hill Vineyards. Give 'em a call also to see when their next culinary scenario will take place. Again, when we dined at the Century Kitchen area, we experienced some of the finest cuisine that we've experienced in quite some time.Good luck......
