Although we didn't get to stay in the cabin because the pipes froze during the cold snap, we did enjoy the wine tasting. The owners were very kind and took care of finding us alternative accommodations. The wine is wonderful and pizza is delicious! We will try again!
We live about 45 minutes north of this winery, but decided to take advantage of an unseasonably warm February Sunday to drive down and sample both the red wines and the much-recommended wood-fired pizza. Service was friendly and very attentive, our questions about their offerings were graciously answered, and dining was overall a very pleasant experience. We are partial to out-of-the-way places with unique character, and this dining hall, with its spacious pegged-timberframe construction, offers a refreshing change from traditional architecture. If visitors feel like taking a stroll to work off some of their overindulgence,, there are views of both rolling, open, sunny countryside as well as deeply-shaded woods to explore along the rocky creek. We plan on returning soon to savor the flavors of my Italian heritage.
We visited and stayed at the cabins on the grounds! The location to town was very convenient and the cabin we stayed in was very modern, clean and a beautiful setting along the creek! Really enjoyed the swing on the porch with a glass of wine! The wine tasting room is also very beautiful! The staff and owners were all very welcoming and helpful! They gave us a few suggestions for good antique stores in the area! I will have to say they are one of the few wineries where the glass is not included with a tasting so I would have liked to see that and for staying in the cabins on grounds seems like those individuals that stay could get a glass especially. But it was all really nice that's just my suggestion! We had pizza on the way out Sunday and it was great! We truly enjoyed the setting and it was overall a good experience!
We have been going to this vineyard for several years, visiting between Christmas and New Year's each year. The new owners (of about 2 or 3 years), have really made this a place worth visiting. The have a really nice selection of wines. On Sunday they make homemade pizzas - you need to pre-order your crust, as they only make so many. Enjoyed a late lunch of excellent pizza, and good red wine. You can walk down along the river, there is also outdoor seating available They have a few new cabins on site which are for rent. We will be back again next year.
My daughter had her wedding there this past Saturday. The whole thing went very nice. Could not ask for a better time. The staff did a outstanding job taking care of us and the food and wine was incredible. The cabin we stayed in was wonderful as well.
We loved this winery. It was so pretty. Go straight to the port and lemoncello desert wine offerings. You won't be dissapointed.
This was our second visit to the Elkin Creek winery. It was a very quiet Friday afternoon. We were by ourselves at the tasting bar and there was one other couple outside with a dog also tasting. We enjoyed the leisurely paced tasting. We like the rustic setting and the nice variety of wines. We really like their Chardonnay although -- like last year it's not ready until February. (maybe they need to address that issue. ) We purchased several bottles of wine and afterwords enjoyed a glass of wine down by the creek. What a beautiful natural setting. I understand that their Sundays with homemade pizza is very popular -- but we enjoy the quiet environment during the week.
We went on our 35th Wedding Anniversary and had a wonderful pizza, and salad, along with a bottle of Mistela. The hospitality is super and the setting magical.
We went here on a Sunday, after a recommendation from another winery nearby. The pizza was worth the wait, very fresh and flavorful. It seems like they have stretched themselves a little bit thin with serving food on Sundays though; at one point, our server appeared to go out with a family to do a vineyard tour, so then there was only one poor girl left to cope with the wine tasting bar, the inside seating area for food and drinks, and the outside deck area too. So service was a bit slow. The building itself is stunning, and surrounded by the vines, it's a gorgeous setting. The wines were definitely not the high point of this place. We were really disappointed by the light reds, some of them even sparkling. And you don't even get to keep the wine glasses for the price of the wine tasting! I'm afraid we would not return here.
Absolutely breathtaking atmosphere with creek and woods surrounding a lovely tasting room. Very good wines, and on my visit, we were helped by the winemaker himself. Wish the restaurant had been open, though. Food sounds great. Will return to eat some day.
We stopped in at elkin creek during our yadkin valley winery weekendVery nice wines and a great opportunity to visit with the winemaker they were quite busy in the restaurant so the tasting took quite a while but it was a great experience nevertheless Wish we had time to eat lunch in their restaurant the pizza smelled wonderful. Did buy a loaf of their wood fired oven bread to go it was fantastic Will definitely go back
We enjoyed the wines at this winery! The setting is lovely as well. A great place for a picnic with friends while enjoying these top notch wines! We will return!!
We enjoyed sitting outside with a glass of merlot at this beautiful winery. The creek and vineyards make for a peaceful place to enjoy a glass. We have been there twice and have yet to be disappointed! Truly a great winery!
I admit I was a little leery on the approach to the winery, but it was probably the dreary, rainy day. Once we walked into the comfy, rustic tasting room, I was no longer leery. We were warmly greeted by the winemaker and some fellow wine enthusiasts from SC. The winemaker is very knowledgeable and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed his stories and descriptions, not to mention the wine. We ended up buying three bottles (it was tough to narrow it to three) and a half loaf of sourdough bread to go. I would love to return on a Sunday to try the wood-fired pizza. The phone was constantly ringing for pizza reservations. This is a star in the Yadkin Valley and makes me want to return sooner rather than later.
We went for a late lunch on Sunday and we're very impressed both with the wine and beautiful location. One has to wait a while for the pizza but it was worth waiting for and provided time to sample some good wine!
