While in the area for the Martinsville NASCAR race we decided to stay an extra day to check Grove Winery out. My husband and I had a good time during our tasting. We were able to take our time and not rushed . I recommend getting a glass of wine to enjoy by the tranquil pond out back.
What a treat we got during our wine tasting. The last batch of grapes for the season arrived for pressing. We were invited to watch the entire process and even got a tour of the facility. Sandy was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Couldn't stop talking about our visit to the Grove Winery and Vineyards.
Took a quick trip, having found the Winery from the signs on 29.Not your average sweet fruity North Carolina wines. The owner actually had the soil well analyzed, and grows European grapes. I really enjoyed the very smooth, un-oaked Chardonnay and very nice Cabernet.Good value on the tasting. Beautiful location. Would definitely go back if ever in the area again.
Went the first time about a year ago with a Groupon for a tasting. Have gone back many times since then. Great place to hang out with friends or spend a quiet Sunday afternoon with your significant other. Summer concerts are a ton of fun. Great wines and terrific staff always.
We went yesterday and since it was raining there were only about 20 people at the time we went. Very nice staff for the wine tasting. My husband did not like their Merlot. I liked the aroma of the strawberry wine. Very reasonable price to try wines ($5 for 6 samples and you keep the glass). It was a beautiful drive out in the country. You can sit on the lawn down by the Haw River or tables were set up outside under tents (or inside 2 small tables. )We were told they had about 450 people for their 2nd Food Rodeo on a Sunday afternoon. (n those days they don't do the 6 samples of course).
Good wine and jazz under the stars- it doesn't get any better. Real Jazz and Andrea Templon & Friends were awesome. A few glasses of award-winning Niagra for me and one of the Grove's signature wines, Jughouse, for my daughter made the evening even better. I look forward to doing this again and again.
This winery has one of the better selections of grape varieties in the Haw River valley. Relaxing atmosphere and wide selection of wines to taste make this a great way to spend an afternoon.
We have always been advocates of N.C, wines & enjoy braging how great our area is for all its bounty.Grove winery rates up with some of the BEST both red & white wines we've tasted anywere. It's a must to visit often
Visited with friends. Walked some of Vineyard. Saw how grapes are grown and different stages of readiness.Did wine tasting after wards. Nominal price and they give you the glass as a Souvenir. We also purchased some Bottles to take away with us. Everyone their was very nice and pleasant and more than happy to answer any questions. Got a feeling they were genuinelyglad to see you and share the process of stages of the Vineyard and wine making with you !They have a lot of events going on. You can bring a picnic lunch and enjoy one of their wines out on patio. Tasting Room open Noon to 6:00pm check web site to see up coming stuff; www.GroveWinery.comJune 30th ($10.00) is SongBeer Music Fest from 4:30 to 10:00 July 4th 1pm -till say's Free Admission , Live Music
I've visited here a couple of times and always enjoy my visit. I once went when the owner/ farmer, Max, was there doing the tastings (middle of the week and not busy) and he is so nice and knowledgeable and I love knowing that I'm supporting a great local guy. The wines are on the drier side so if you like sweet, this is not the place for you. But they are top notch wines if the drier style is your thing. The strawberry wine is amazing though. They do tons of different events including dinner paired with their wines and music festivities. They sell wine by the glass and have a nice outdoor seating area. There is a fee for the tasting but you get a nice wine glass to go!
Staff very friendly and professional. Very accommodating and always have great deals to join them for their summer concert series. You cant leave until you try their Rossa Dolce. We went 3 times just last summer
Have visited twice now with living social deals, and both trips to Grove Winery have been great. My husband and I primarily prefer to drink dry, full-bodied reds, and they have one of the best selections of reds in the state, would say the best in central and eastern NC for our tastes. They also have a wide range of other selections, including some good whites and sweeter options as well. The staff is always friendly and the pricing is very reasonable. We will be back.
Other than the Biltmore Winery, Grove was the only winery that we got to in the several days we were in N.Carolina visiting friends over Xmas/NYear. The tasting room is pleasant, the tasting policy ($5 for 6 wines of your choice and you keep the glass) was fair (we would have liked to see them offer a discount on bottles bought AGAINST the tasting fee, but they say N.Carolina law prohibits this), and the woman introducing us to the wines was knowledgable and pleasant. We're very wine-knowledgable, and found at least a couple amongst their extensive offerings that were nearly 'california good', and the price per bottle wasn't 'california outrageous'. The owner and his family ambled in toward the end of our visit ...and the 'family Labrador', giving the visit a lovely touch of 'make sense' touristing. Think our friends will continue to use this as a 'destination' and, while there, pick up more of Grove's wines.
