Operated by Alexander County, this park has five miles of moderate to strenuous hiking trails, an ADA accessible walking track, a picnic shelter with restrooms, an overnight campsite, geocaching, and beautiful views from atop the mountain. I grew up in the area and have visited the Rocky Face mountain many times over the years. We used to climb the cliff in the quarry area long before it became a park. Also in years past it was a great place to target shoot as all the bullets smashed against the rock and just fell to the ground safely. I have been back to visit since "the old days" and the county has done a great job making this into a very nice recreational area and I especially enjoy the hiking trails that have been established. When I visit in Alexander county, I try to take a few minutes to drive by and just enjoy the beauty of the area. It will always be one of my favorite spots.

We were staying in Statesville for the weekend & drove up here for a day hike. The path has some rocks & uneven area that are a little difficult. Overall it was a great hike & the sights were beautiful!

First visit to walk the trails. Views were spectacular but will be even better this fall. A walking stick would have been helpful; some of the paths were steep and crossed streams (may have been from the recent rains though). Next time, I will take my cell phone (just in case of accidents) and camera. Thanks to the Eagle Scout who provided a couple of benches for brief rests. The ranger station is nice with clean rest rooms and polite, friendly personnel.
