I have recently started attempting to visit as many covered bridges as I can, and this one did not disappoint. Beautiful bridge in a beautiful serene setting (beware as your GPS may need the help of a good, old-fashioned atlas to get you there...) There is a path through the woods for a nature walk, there are picnic tables on the grounds, and I was surprised at how well-kept it seemed given the remote location. Wish people didn't feel the need to mess up the interiors of these bridges by signing their names all over the place, but nonetheless the bridge is worth visiting.

Always happy to see a piece of history preserved and this is no exception. The bridge was a sight to behold in the midst of beautiful Fall color. What a pity the powers that be cannot clean off the graffiti that is not only on the inside but the outside too.

We were coming home from the Asheboro zoo and saw the signs for the historic landmark. There must have been 100 people having a family reunion in the picnic area so it wasn't as quiet and I would have liked it. The 1911 bridge is amazing but unfortunately vandals have left graffiti all over the inside (I just don't understand people that do this). There is also a nice little trail along the creek for your walking enjoyment (it makes a full circle back to the bridge).

Pisgah Covered Bridge, located just outside of Asheboro, is one of only two covered bridges remaining in North Carolina. The 54-foot bridge was built in 1911 for a cost of $40 but soon became obsolete as it couldn't handle the traffic. A two-lane road was built in the 1950s and the covered bridge fell into a state of disrepair. Recognizing the cultural heritage of the bridge, the NC Zoo Society joined with the NC DOT and other organizations to raise funds to restore and refurbish the bridge, and to build parking and picnic tables for visitors to enjoy. In 2003, the bridge was washed away in a flood, but was rebuilt the next year, using mostly the original materials that were recovered by volunteers.I had seen signs for the bridge several times while traveling to the Asheboro area, but only had the opportunity to stop recently. Crossing the West Fork Branch of the Little River, the old covered bridge is very scenic and definitely worth a stop. Besides walking across the bridge, there are some short trails to head downstream and check it out from different angles. Unfortunately, a lot of the inside of the bridge has been defaced by graffiti.

We recently visited this bridge after a trip to the zoo and our GPS was not originally going to get us there, but we made it. There are only 2 covered bridges left in NC and this is one of them; I was a little sad that people have to write graffiti all over the inside of the bridge. It would be nice if people could respect the history and leave it alone. If you go across the bridge there is a little path that will lead you back to the other side. It was a nice stroll. The bridge could use some repair, but it was nice to see this bit of history.

We visited here recently on a trip to Seagrove. Being a history buff I was very impressed with the preservation of such a great piece of history. There was a nice short trail close by. Definitely worth the visit!

I had driven by the sign for this on 73 / 74 a handful of times, though never ventured off to see it. I finally had a few minutes to spare and got curious, and it only took a few minutes to get there. One of the two remaining wooden covered bridges in North Carolina and a significant historical landmark. I’ve seen a few covered bridges in my day, this one was on par. They’re always nice and make you think about what life must have been like back when they were built / used.Overall, it would make a nice stop for a photo and to take a deep breath and think about the past

This is a ways off the road, but it is just wonderful! Not enough info on site about the bridge, but just beautiful! Take the time to go off the main road (it's all paved) and see this jewel in North Carolina

One of two covered bridges remaining in North Carolina is the Pisgah Covered Bridge found in Randolph County, NC. Originally built in 1911 it is not only a historical landmark, but a stoic representation of a community's strength too. In 2003 after a record flood, the bridge was lifted from its location and swept down stream (mostly intact), and the community took no time to re-erect it better than ever. I highly recommend a trip to the bridge for photographers or friends looking for a fun photo op!
