Ted and his brother took over this course a few years ago and their changes are amazing. Very reasonably priced and fun to play. We travel 2 hours 3 or 4 times a year just to play here. Miss Kristi and the rest of her staff are very personable and fun to be around. The food is good and the service and course even better.
Deer Croft is a nice 18 hole layout. The fairways and greens were in good condition. Off the fairway is very rough in some areas. Several T-boxes were in need of repair. In general a nice course to play. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The pro at Deer Croft (Ted) made sure we had a great time playing his course.
This course has been taken over about 3 years ago by new owners....not a corporation....and they have taken great pride in redoing this course. The greens are outstanding and the fairways beautifully manicured. The cart paths are in need of some work, but I have no doubt that this will be addressed in the future. Ted Robinson, the PGA Professional/Owner, is there to address any questions you might have and is very pleasant to work with. If you have tried this course before Ted took it over and was disillusioned with the conditions, please give it another try. I guarantte you will be pleasantly surprised. GO PLAY!!!!
The course was in great shape. It was the first time I played there and enjoyed the layout. The fairways are a little narrow, but allow you places to land for the next shot. Greens in good shape. Bunkers placed in ways you can avoid them. I will be returning to play here again.
This is a hidden gem. If you are in the area you should give this one a try. Close to Pinehurst, NC and very affordable.
One of the best deals you will find in the Pinehurst Area for playing golf, a true experiencefor a price you will not find "in town". The course is in great condition, the staff (club pro and owner a one man staff) very friendly. Will play this again, it may be a few miles outsideof town but worth the trip.
While at Pinehurst for the US Open, my friend and I played Deercroft. We could not have had a better experience! Beautiful golf course, well-maintained, friendly staff, and inexpensive to boot! We had planned to play another course later in the week, but eagerly returned to Deercroft for another fantastic round of golf! I see that negative reviews were written 2 years ago. They don't apply anymore, as Ted and his amazing staff have revitalized this golf course with a passion for excellence. I highly recommend Deercroft to any golfer in the Pinehurst area!
One of the best courses I have played. Very friendly and informative staff. Would definitely played again when in this area.
I have played over 30 golf courses in the Pinehurst Area. The management staff are committed to makeing this a great golf course. I play at Deercroft often, the great thing is, thateverytime i come back, improvements have been made and great enhancements have been made through out the golf course. The new sand traps and waste areas really gives it a new feel. I love the changes and new challenges it offers. From the middle or back tees, i use every club in my bag and it forces me to hit a variety of golf shots. Keep the improvements coming !!
With so many golf courses in the area, once was enough. Always specials for play especially in the summer.
An okay course for a warm up to other Pinehurst area courses
Although it's a bit more out of the way than some of the other courses in the Pinehurst area, Deercroft offers a wonderful round of golf and is a course I have found myself returning to again and again. The course is impeccably maintained and the setting is great for a relaxing getaway. Deercroft isn't all that long, but accuracy is demanded by the pine trees lining the fairways which love to slap down errant tee shots. Shot placement is important on several holes as well. On my first couple of rounds here I fired off some blistering drives that left me feeling pretty good, only to find myself without a direct line to the green and forced to lay up with a wedge. That said, Deercroft is not a terribly difficult course if you keep the ball in play. And at less than thirty bucks including cart, it's a great place to bring your buddies for the weekly game. Definitely worth the extra ten or fifteen minute drive.
