If you are "new" to the South, maybe it'd be interesting, but having grown up in the South, it was like looking at stuff I've seen my whole life. From being part of a "mill town" to farming...if these are things you want to see some history of, Levine is ok. For me, it wasn't much.

I was not expecting a ton out of the visit to this museum, but it actually was quite informative and captivating. It's extremely well put together with some of the best exhibits I've ever seen. Also, we went on a Sunday and if you have less than 10 people in your party on Sunday you get in free! (They prefer you give a donation, though.)

This museum had great exhibits depicting the South throughout various times in history. The interactive components were captivating and so informative. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Gives the newcomer a great introduction to Charlotte, it's past and it's present. I always take house guests there who are interested in knowing what makes Charlotte Charlotte.

This fine museum has cutting edge exhibits on topics other museums might not want to touch like desegregation and LGBT history.

if you want to know why it's called "Uptown" and how Charlotte grew into the city it is today, then this is the place for you. My husband and I live in Charlotte and went to the Levine Museum of the New South on MLK Day. We were blown away with how impressive the main exhibit was. The soundbites and blurbs are thorough and easy to understand. Most of the exhibit is interactive. My favorite part were the store fronts. I felt like I was in the first Belk department store!! It was a wonderful experience and I hope other locals want to go here to learn about their city. I do wish there were more maps showing the locations of some of the places they spoke about. Street names were often mentioned, but even as a local, I wasnt always certain what area of town was being referenced.

We visited on a recent Saturday afternoon and were so impressed with the museum. We took our 25 year old son and his girlfriend, and we all enjoyed it. The history of the region from the end of the Civil War to the present was very well presented - a nice mix of video, print and hands on exhibits. Great way to spend a few hours and very convenient to other uptown sites. Would particularly recommend dropping into the 7th Street Market which is behind the museum.

I visited with friends while on a short visit and really liked the museum. So much of what I see here in the south is about the pre civil and civil war era. It was refreshing to learn about the changes, struggles, and wins that occurred after the war. For me it was a new way of seeing the South. Really loved it.

This was such a nice place. Everything is clean and fresh. The exhibits were very interesting. You can tell that there was a lot of thought put into the way things were displayed. Lots of details about Charlotte as well as surrounding areas. I wish that there was a cashier available inside the gift shop, because we had to wait for a while to pay for admission. You have to pay for your items from the gift shop at the check in desk. Other than that it was very nice.

I don't believe that there's much to do in Charlotte, so it was nice to see some small museums are available. I enjoy learning history, and thought this was a good place to start in learning about our new state.

It was a very nice museum which gives a history of the south. As a visitor to Charlotte i enjoyed the museum.

Main exhibit of the Museum has not changed since I first started coming here several years ago. It depicts the south (Charlotte) from 1800's to present. Includes several very nice rooms depicting establishments such as early department stores, appliances, cotton Mill to segregated lunch counter. Parking is right next store with the 7'th Ave. Market near by for refreshments. I think it is FREE on Sundays.

Went here with an out of town visitor. The museum focuses on the major transitions that have led Charlotte to becoming a major city in the US. I highly suggest this museum for current and future residents.

A wonderful way to understand what kind of city Charlotte has grown to become. A good place for first time to Charlotte visitors. Tom Hanchett runs a terrific Museum with always changing and meaningful exhibits.
