We have attended a few basketball games and this is such a great atmosphere! The place is always packed for a game, everyone wearing cream and crimson. There is So much basketball history here. Renovations to the building are scheduled to start in the next year. Go if you can, it's worth the cost of the ticket!
What more can I say? The absolute best venue for college basketball. Crazy, loud atmosphere. Watch the Hoosiers get their mojo back this year!
Awesome place to go see a ball game!! A lot of history at Indiana University!! Would highly recommend visiting!
It's amazing taking in an Indiana Hoosiers basketball game at Assembly Hall. Proud member of the class of 1994, can't wait until my next visit to Bloomington!
Right before Christmas a friend gave us tickets for the New Orleans game. Didn't get the tix until 2 hours before tipoff so had to rush. Got in the door & picked up a promo poster & then found our seats. I was in awe of being there. Assembly Hall is not a new age arena like Yum in Loiusville. It is thick with history though. Pictures everywhere. Banners! Pre game stuff was fun. Didn't do much with concessions other than popcorn in a cool IU bucket. Game was great. Staff was very helpful. Directed us to the floor after the game where people were having their pics made. They had staff people ready to take our pics on our phones. I thought that was very thoughtful of the university. Also got a pic with a player. It was very fan & family friendly. Can't wait to go again.
The wife and I came here to watch a IU basketball game with some friends. This was my first time and assembly hall. It was amazing. I loved all the trophies in the hallway's. The crowd was really into the game. I just wish I could afford better seats LOL!!!
Attending the IU basketball game. Love the excitement and the "feel" of the place. They have some of the best popcorn. Others in the crowd were very friendly. The ceiling looks a little unstable in the balcony, the stairwell had some nasty water flowing down one wall and the urinals are awkwardly close to each other.
I attended my first IU basketball game last night and had a fantastic time. Assembly Hall is everything you have heard and then some. The minute we walked through the hallowed doors I could feel the energy and excitement and it was just a preseason game. There is so much to see before you even enter the gymnasium. The halls are filled with Hoosier photos and memorabilia. It is like a museum of basketball. Walking into the gymnasium literally takes your breath away. What a beautiful place to watch basketball. The crowd was great. The band and pep squad/cheerleaders lit up,the place with their enthusiasm and talent. The seats were not completely filled as it was a pre-season game vs a lesser known school, but the crowd was into it. Best part - the Hoosiers won by 24 points. I hope these players know how lucky they are to play in such an amazing place.
If you watch the Indiana Hoosiers play basketball on TV then you have seen assembly hall. The building is starting to show it's age. Last year a ceiling beam fell. Luckily no one was there when it happened. It has been repaired. Things seem to run smoothly due to a dedicated staff. Convenient parking and facilities.
Assembly Hall has to be on anyone's bucket list if you are a basketball fan. My wife and I went to a game last year and now she is a full fledged IU fan.
It's assembly hall. If you like basketball you have to catch a game there. Try to sit in the lower section and not by the ends. The place has so much history and on occasional weekday you may find that you can sneak into the building and on to the floor
I have had season tickets for 5 years and think going to Hoosiers games is awesome! You know what would be more awesome? Going to games in a modern arena. It's not beautiful inside or all that old and charming. The upper deck is an arial view of the court and involves about 20 flights of stairs. The food options are just north of terrible. There is no variety in seating options. The top rows of the lower bowl can't see the scoreboard. A game had to be postponed last year due to sheet metal falling from the sky. The only saving grace is that the Hoosiers play inside and fan support is great. It's a shame that IU has doubled down on this building for another 20 years until it will no longer be serviceable rather than investing in modern facilities. It's 43 years old - that's not old enough to be classic, but old enough to be due for replacement. Look at Cook Hall. Then imagine a full arena to match it. One can dream . . .
Assembly Hall continues to be the best place to watch a College Basketball game. The atmosphere is the best anywhere.
The hall is great if you can get tickets to a game. Not a bad seat in the house!. The exhibits around the hall are worth seeing too
I have been to Assembly Hall more times than I can count. This last time I was there for a graduate school graduation ceremony. Maybe it is just nostalgia talking, but everything about this place is perfect.
