Grew up in Manchester so have driven over the old bridge multiple times. New bridge very nice but miss the rumbling of the boards as we drove through it!!!! Money well spent to restore this historical site.

I grew up on a farm north of this beautiful town located 40 miles west of Ft. Wayne. The wooden covered bridge was recently refurbished and opened back to one-way traffic. I loved the bridge as a child, listening to the wooden floor creek and looking down through the separated wood boards to the Eel River. I have driven across many covered bridges in southern IN, PA, VT and NH. My favorite is the one in my hometown and I drive over this historical structure several times each year.

Such a memory every time I see it. Had yo draw it for art class, rode my bike many times through its two walls, and sat at its banks....still a Indiana treasure. Also, N Manchester had some of the most beautiful Victorian architecture you will find...and do not forget a tenderloin at Mr Dave's!

The covered bridge in North Manchester, Indiana is just two blocks off of State Road 114 and is worth a side detour. It allows one-way traffic (drivers must take turns) for cars only. It is well-maintained and goes over the Eel River which was called the Kenapocomo River by the Miami Nation. It is now in a residential neighborhood, so it's a great place to park the car and walk over it. It's a wonderful reminder of the ways our forbears lived.
