My earliest memories as a child was going to the Indiana Theatre with my parents. The architecture was so fascinating even for me. Fountains! Detail! The Large Entrance! Looking Up! And then the special balcony. My parents wouldn't let me sit there, but I could dream.I don't remember one movie I saw there, but I remember the theatre. I had to visit the ladies' room with the make up mirrors in the parlor whether I really "needed" to go or not. When my husband and I started dating, we went to the Indiana Theatre but a lot of the polish seemed to be missing. When our children came along, we took them, but by now it was $1.00 movies and finding a seat worth sitting in was time consuming.Rob Lundstrom stepped in with the desire to bring the theatre back the way it was. He not only did that, he exceeded beyond anyone's expectations. Granted, everything is not finished, but he has come such a long way. Yes, bathrooms need upgrading but the parlor is still there.Several rows of seats have been taken out to allow for tables/chairs. The large lobby (not in the first entrance) can also accommodate a large group for dinner.Every event scheduled is worth attending. I am glad I was there for the OLLI annual meeting. When I think about all the time, effort, and money that has gone in to bringing this back to us, I say, "Thank you, Rob. Thank you so much."

We just spent an evening of great fun watching Gone with the Wind to celebrate its 75th anniversary year on the big screen of The Indiana! It was a spectacular evening with great food, a full bar and a house full of people who have never seen this American Film Institute Top 100 movie at the theater. Owner Rob Lundstrom's plan is to have dinner and movie nights each month--showing an old classic. Brilliant! A must-see for those looking for something different on a Friday night.

This theater, renovated in 2013, is a majestic example of old-world theaters and a reminder of the beauty and grandeur of our cinematic past. It's opulent entrance and foyer are well worth viewing, and the owner himself will even take you back stage for a behind the scenes look! The place now hosts many events and is fun, yet elegant.

I haven't been here sence I was a kid and went to the movies so the date is wrong but that's all it would let me go back. My dad would take us to the movies once a month when we was kids, I always thought the place looked like a castle inside it was really cool I thought

Indiana Theatre has always been a very beautiful place. Growing up I use to go to the movies there. It is a must see. We just went to see Chonda Pieace a christian comedian 11/24/13.

This place is incredible, If you don't have an event planned there get yourself invited to one that is or move yours. Better than I every remember it. If you have memories from the past or just want to see fantastic venue that has been around for almost 100 years, you have to go. From Laurel and Hardy and vaudeville acts right on thruough to the movies of the day, this has been THE spot in Terre Haute for entertainment. Its recent renovation is fantastic. Gently preserving the fine artwork and detail while cleverly bringing this place back to todays needs. Simply AWESOME

Just being inside this beautiful place will bring a smile on your face as well as make you feel like you're in the 1940's. The owner a have never changed a thing except for what needed updated. This is a must see!

This is a great place to visit in Terre Haute. It will take you back to the old opra days and you just can feel the building come to life. There is so much beautiful art work to see in this downtown building! This is a must see!

It is a historical theater and is so cool. I wish they would open it up more to the public...doesn't seem to be open much anymore.

This is a piece of Terre Haute History. Although it can not outshine the newer theaters... it is fun to see what the ceilings look like and imagine it back in its glory days.

As a 6'1" growing college student, I must say this was the must uncomfortable theatre I had ever gone to. I went there for a date, and it was an amazing date location, She had fun at least, but holy cow I wanted to kill myself watching that movie. It was like I was crammed in the small backseats of a regular size truck. The seats were tiny. The whole experience was vastly overshadowed by my extreme discomfort. I will never go back, I'd rather get a series of rabies shots than sit through a movie there again. Giving it two bubble instead of one just on the shear fact that my date had an amazing time. It is definitely a small persons theater...

I grew up going to the Indiana Theatre, & especially for scary movies, campy events (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) & even Russian ballet (The Nutcracker), it cannot be beat! There literally is not a bad seat in the house, due to the wonderful design---it is a trip back into the days when theatres were truly grand & glorious :)

Terre Haute was the saddest place we have ever been too. Business area by the mall was busy with several fast food options available with quick and friendly service. Down town area seems to have had a recent makeover, but most businesses there were closed on Sunday. Housing all around there was sad and run down, looks like a town about to die.

This old gem is reminiscent of days gone by when a big screen and large auditorium made the admission price worth while to catch a movie before waiting on the TV or video release. Very different experience than the multiplex offerings. Would make a great dinner theater - hoping that it can be restored to it's former glory.

It did not appear to be open when we were there, but just seeing the architecture on the outside is worth the trip! There are a lot of nice buildings to see in the downtown area, but this has to be the highlight!
