The gardens are focused on plants that grow well on the western Kansas plains. Well marked, nice walking paths, interesting displays. Worth a visit!

The little museum is in the K-State Gardens and aims to present the diversity, importance and beauty of insects and some of his relatives.Different species of spiders, beetles, cockroaches and hopes, all living are created. Bees produce honey in the gardens of integrated KSU hive.

Small but very clean! We had a great time! Sad that the lion had passed away but there were many other great animals to see.

The KSU Insect Museum may be small, but it is packed with creatures to look at! We went as a group of about 20 moms and kids, took about an hour to make the loop and look at everything. The kids had a blast! This is a great little outing for a rainy or snowy Kansas day.

What’s amazing about this place is the variety of live insects they’ve brought together from all over the world in the relatively small space of an old stone barn. There’s cage after cage of insects I’d never seen before and lot I had, but not this close. They were a little heavy on praying mantis relatives.In addition to the live insects, there was a small exhibit about where insects hide in homes, an area to watch insect-related videos, and some insect accessories (partial costumes) visitors could try on.I had wanted to visit KSU’s insect zoo for a while and the day we finally got there was cold and stormy. I had some concerns about trying to park on campus on a weekday, but they have a small designated parking lot for this place.A place we just recently visited on another vacation, the Insectarium, which is part of Canada’s Montreal Botanical Garden, helped put the K-State museum in perspective for me. They had a much larger two-story (and very popular) facility, but far fewer live insects and put much more emphasis on mounted insects than the Kansas museum does. Though small, KSU’s insect zoo is still impressive.As others have mentioned, the price is also right. I hope to get back here for another visit before too long.

I had no idea this place even existed until we visited last year. It was really nice and a great place to take a little stroll on a nice day.

The people that work there are often students, and very excited about the zoo, and the insects. They will tell you anything you want to know, and you may get lucky in the afternoon to be there during feeding time. Its cheap too, and you can buy an insect if you want as well.

This is a place that everyone needs to attend. It was my kids favorite place and it only cost us $2 a person. My kids loved to be able to pet the tarantula and cochroaches. The Kstate student that was working was really knowledgeable in insects and really seemed to enjoyed playing there. My boys already want to go back again. If you go to Manhattan you need to go to this place

Get up close with the residents of the insect zoo. Great exhibits and informed employees who answered my kids' questions. We spent almost two hours at the zoo but we asked a lot of questions and watched the inhabitants for quite a while. Once we were done with the zoo we explored the KSU gardens. We really enjoyed ourselves here. It was really great and me and the family like to see the different bugs and flies. I really enjoyed the bees nest that they had. it something that people can go together that and have an interesting time together.

We've been traveling to Manhattan for years for athletic, alumni and other events, but had never stopped at the K-State Insect Zoo until this fall. We had an hour and a half one afternoon and decided to check it out. My wife and I were both impressed with the quantity and quality of exhibits. There is a great display of mounted butterflys that was donated by a collector and all manner of live cockroaches, spiders, walking stick, leaf insects and others too numerous to mention. There is information on insects that affect Kansas agriculture as well as those that we see in urban settings. It is in a small space, but well organized and run by staff and students who are eager to share information about the exhibits. If you call ahead, $5 will get you a personal tour with a student or instructor who will give you the "behind the scenes" perspective. The entrance fee is $2 and is the best value for $2 that I've experienced in a long time. Next time you are in Manhattan, stop by and get your insect fix! You won't be disappointed.

This is a fun activity for adults and kids. You can learn and have fun with your kids. There is always someone kind with a nice smile to show and explain all to you.

We enjoyed our visit. Nice exhibits and fun place for kids. Great friendly staff. Highly recommend this place to visit.

This is not a big place but I really enjoyed it. Children also seemed to like it as well. There were some hands on things. Young as well as older children would get something out of it.

Went with my grandsons and they loved seeing the bugs up-close. Since I'm a bit squirmish when it comes to cockroaches and other creepy crawlies it wasn't the place for me to be! But: Anything for the grandkids, and they love it! I was very fascinated by the bee hive and the bees. It is a great place to visit with kids and not costly.
