A great place for the little kids to burn off some energy and learn something. Even if the weather is bad. Inside or outside the kids love it.
When you go in it looks like there is not a lot to do. Grandkids love it they found tons to do. We have been 3 times . Each time we we have been we stayed 2 to 3 hours.
There were so many fun things to play and learn. I love that there is an outdoor area in addition to the indoor part. Outside the kids could ride the bikes, play in the music garden, and climb on the obstacle course near the tree house. There was also disc golf and huge chess pieces. Indoors there were so many things to do in a little space. The favorites were painting the windows, building in the workshop (you get to take home what you make), the air tubes, and the different stations. There is a money station, vet station, doctor station, mechanic, etc. We were there for hours and the kids never got bored. Very fun if you have a few hours to let the kids explore- my children have been to many Children's Museums and say that this is one of their favorites.
What a wonderful way to teach children, without them realizing it! From the time you walk through the honeycomb foyer there is a sense of awe on the children's faces. They'll stay busy in the Cafe, doctor's office, Veternarian's office and mechanic's garage. Or, you might find them sawing and hammering away in the Build area, painting on the walls in Art, or moving "grain" with augers and pullies. There's a special area for toddlers, Grow, and a special area for non-walking little ones. The older children enjoy the Money area. They learn about "the better buy" and making good money decisions. There's also 4 1/2 acres of outdoor things to do. I won't spoil all of the fun, so the kids can explore on their own!
We took 3 grandchildren ages 4-9 and they each found things to do that they enjoyed. All of them enjoyed the painting on glass and the large outdoor area to explore. The staff really does a good job of keeping things picked up and ready for the next child to enjoy.
This is a great place for all ages of kids. My 10 year old has been to almost every day camp they have had and is always excited for the next one. The inside area is a little smaller then some we've been to but we have not seen others with outside play areas that are included in the admission price. You'll need a few hours to do it all. They do have a place for toddlers and infants that is separated from the bigger kids too. Great place for birthday parties.
4 year old daughter loved it! Inside and outside things to do. Bikes to ride and water things to explore outside. Cars, gears, paint, conveyors and pulleys to explore inside.
This place is better than the Children's center in Denver! so much to do there. My granddaughter especially liked the hand/finger painting booth.
Our two girls, ages 7 and 2, loved it! There was so much to do and explore. The outside area was a hit as well. Allow at least a couple of hours to really delve into this place. If we lived closer, we would definitely be here often.
This is a children's museum for kids through 14 years old. Dress up, science activities, painting, workshop to build things, and a toddler area. Outside is the nature area with paths. We buy the year round pass for grandparents.
I was a bit skeptical when I pulled up to the building. Not that it was run down or anything but it didn't have the usual "bells and whistles". Once we were inside it was non stop fun! My 18-month had a blast. We were there for about 4-hrs. His favorite part was playing in the stream with the rubber duckies. :) we enjoyed our time so much that we bought a membership before leaving. Really inexpensive for the quality we got. Will definitely be returning soon!
Your kids will get lost in the thrill of this place. It isn't huge but it will capture their attention for hours and they will beg to come back again and again. The outdoor area is top notch.
This place is a Mecca for kids. There are a ton of things for them to do both inside and outside. I particularly loved riding the big trikes around the outside path.

My nieces and nephews (ranging in age from 18 months-12) absolutely love the Kansas Children's Discovery Center. They each have their favorite exhibit, but they all think the outdoor learning area is the place to be. It has been fun watching as the space has changed and grown in such a short time. There are so many different options that appeal to a wide-range of ages and interests. As an educator, I feel good about taking them to a place where they can be fully engaged in play and learning at the same time! Every visit is a new adventure. We love KCDC!!
