An easy walk for almost anyone. Take your camera and your time and stop often to take photos of the magnificent changing landscape as you journey down the path. You will be rewarded with many awesome photo memories both coming or going on your walk.Be prepared and take rainwear or bottled water if the weather is warmRestrooms are available on the start and finish of the trail.
Beautiful trail. I love this trail it is beautiful long and gorgeous. and you almost always see whales in it
We parked off of Office Road to the right is a public parking lot. Dragon Teeth is right down path next to golf course. There is a plaque that shows the trail. To the right leads to Fleming Beach-all paved walkway. To the left stay on sidewalk until you reach entrance to the ocean walk (small parking lot on left). The first part is wooden walkway but will turn into a dirt path over rocks. Be sure to wear sneakers for better footing. The view is incredible and a lot of Kodak moments.
The Coastal Trail at Kapalua is just gorgeous! It's an easy hike (though do wear sensible shoes) and it allows you to really appreciate the rugged beauty of the northwestern coastal shores of Maui. Definitely bring you camera! If you go early, you can park for free at the southern entrance (public restrooms there) and enjoy!I wanted to add a side note that hubby and I wanted a bit more challenging hike after experiencing Kapalua Coastal Trail so we ventured out to Kapalua Village Center and found the Kapalua Village Trails which are what remains of the Kapalua Village Golf Course cart paths. So far this is not a postable destination on Trip Advisor, but if you do go, the trail is awesome! Bring lots of water and wear sunscreen. These hilly trails will give you a great workout and reward you with spectacular ocean/island views. Probably not for little ones -- the trails are surrounded by tall nature and though you see butterflies along the way, you will not see much else if you are under 3 1/2 feet tall. So happy that Kapalua resort folks are opening up hiking to the public. There is so much beauty in Hawaii beyond the coast. Can't wait to post more about the experience when this becomes a sanctioned attraction!
I hiked the Kapalua Trail solo looking for peace and a great view. Found both - and it was much more than I expected. The trail was easy to find and had plenty of parking. The view was stunning - waves crashing and whales breaching just off shore. I sat down on a rock for an hour and just took it all in. Don't rush this walk - enjoy it! To get to the trail drive to Kapalua and turn left in Office Rd to the T intersection. Turn left and he parking is on the right hand side just past the medical clinic.I can't wait to go back.
Start at beautiful Kapalua Bay, walk past bay, condos, through a lava field, along a beach, and keep going as far as you like. Best to hike in early morning or late afternoon. Only 7 minutes from our Maui turtle paradise condo vrbo.com 424589 where you can watch turtles feed:)
WOW right out of a postcard. !Whales jumping in the channel with the sun setting behind them. Perfect end to another perfect day in Maui
Great walk along the ocean ....be sure to stop by dragons teeth. Would recommend wearing athletic shoes. No strollers or wheelchairs.
A very easy walk that you can start and stop at many places along the way. Beautiful views, a great walk with kids that allows them to explore along the way.
lots of whale watching, sunset gazing, toe dipping and taking in God's awesome creation! You can start anywhere along this path and find lots of hidden treasures - Love all the beaches along this coastline.
We did this trail towards the end of the day and had great views and whale activity. The path is easy to walk and very scenic!
We like to park by Oneloa Beach and then start along the boardwalk to the left and keep going till we tire out. Parking can be tight and we try to go at the end of the day when spaces are starting to free up. If you come for sunset you'll need to be mindful of where you are positioned or you might miss it.The trail is well marked and has many off shoots that take you down to the rocky shoreline where you can get splashed by crushing waves and get some amazing photos. Very little elevation change but lots of places to trip - so wear good shoes and watch your step.Oneloa beach is fairly small and rustic and has always had rough surf when we've been there in the winter. Shower to rinse off but no bathroom facilities.
I love this little walk! It's an easy yet beautiful trail! I do this trail every time I visit at least once. I love to do an early morning walk on this trail and then walk up to the Honolua Store in Kapalua Bay for breakfast afterwards. Great to do solo, as a couple, or as a family with older children. There are parts of it that are not paved and wouldn't be ideal for parents with strollers.
We did the Kapalua Coastal Trail as a family (3 kids 9,11,16) and we all loved it. Make sure to take your camera- we took some beautiful family pictures.
This trail is easy and very beautiful. The coastline here is especially breathtaking. I recommend taking this trail in combination with a short walk out to Dragon's Teeth. We parked at the corner of Office and Lower Honoapi'ilani roads. Starting here gives you easy access to Dragon's Teeth and you still can hike the Kapalua Coastal Trail portion that is near the ocean. Once you park, you walk toward the ocean along a hedge at the edge of the golf course fairway. At first, you wonder whether you are going the right way but if you walk a little ways you will see the well worn path. Seeing the lava formation - Dragon's Teeth - is worth the diversion. After you walk back up to the parking lot, you head down the sidewalk on Honoapi'ilani Road and access the coastal trail at the Oneloa Beach access. Again, you will ask yourself if you are going the right way. The trail access is a staircase between residential buildings. If you are driving into the area, may I suggest stopping for lunch at the Honokowai Okazuya Deli in Honokowai on the way there or on the way back. Large reasonably priced menu that you can get to go if you like.
