If you have never been to Crandon for the off road races you're missing out! It is a sight to see. The racers are absolutely amazing and the crowds are bigger than anywhere else. It is so much fun and there's always excitement.
One should never miss Labor Day weekend at Crandon!!! The best short course track in the world is at full capacity with great races and drivers from buggies to top hp pro 4 wd trucks. Never a disappointment
If you enjoy races, this is one track you need to get to! Be sure to plan ahead, as the series races are only two weekends a year (usually sometime in June and Labor day weekend, check the tracks website). Not only are the races fantastic (Pro truck classes with 900 horsepower!) but this track offers access to the Pit areas with a standard admission. That's right, you can walk up and talk to the drivers and pit crews as they are working on vehicles...something you will never find at other professional races. Factor in that you will see vehicles doing over a hundred miles per hour on dirt, with jumps and your starting to get the picture. I had the chance to attend with my brother and his boys (13 years old and 10 years old), and not only did we have a great time watching the races but they got to meet and get autographs from several drivers. One even let my nephew climb in the drivers seat to check it out. Fantastic experience, and is a whole weekend event too. Some key advice is that you need to bring your own chair (or blanket) to sit on. There are some bleachers but they cost extra and fill up quickly, but if you bring your own chairs you can set up wherever you think has the best view. Plan ahead though, as space fills up so arrive well before the first scheduled race so you can set your chairs up. Parking is cheap ($3), so if you arrive early you can go check out the Pits before racing gets started. This is definitely a must see event, I never thought it would be as cool as it turned out. It blew away anything I've ever seen on asphalt and the access to the pits and drivers was something I couldn't even dream of!
