Looking for a good run (or bike) around Eau Claire? This is the the place. It is really the gem of the Chippewa Valley. It meanders around the river and downtown. Across bridges and through parks. It's not as well-marked as it could be, which makes it difficult for first timers but it's easy to figure out.
Beautiful area to explore and enjoy the beauty of nature, especially during autumn when leaves change.
Four of us rode our mountain bikes from Eau Claire to just past Carryville. Very few walkers, joggers or fellow bikers on the trail. We rode over bridges, past beautiful farms and in the woods. It's fairly flat so it's an easy ride.
Beautiful walk along the river from the university of Eau Claire. This time of year, with the changing of season, the colours are something else. Plenty of cycling, walking, jogging, it has it all.
This is overall a very nice ride. If you ride past or start your ride from the town of Caryville on Hwy 85, you will find a very nice, quaint convenience store to buy your forgotten sun screen or a cold drink at the end of your ride. The parking area at Caryville has a drinking fountain, along with clean toilet facilities. The trail west of Caryville is paved blacktop, but a bit rough, so I hope it is scheduled for replacement soon. The views while you are on the trail are very pretty. There are a number of bench seats along the way where one can stop and wildlife watch. The Town of Meridian has a nice rest area with a satellite - chemical toilet. It was a nice ride today other than the sometimes teeth rattling bumps on the trail.
Can bike this trail alone to birdwatch, especially past Meridean. Cannot rollerblade as far as Careyville.
This is a great trail that is being updated and well-maintained. I trained for the Fall50 Ultramarathon in Door County here and would run it from northern Eau Claire to Durand. There a little towns along the way and a few bathrooms and water stops. Bring bug spray!! I loved reading the little historical marker signs too. Can't wait to come back and bike it! No fee for runners and walkers.
The Chippewa River Bike trail is a beautiful place to bike. I live close to it and love to go biking there at least every other two days. There is miles and miles of paved road. They also have rest stops along the way.
The Eau Claire area is a hidden gem when it comes to bike trails, including the Chippewa River Trail. Nice trails, neat views, and close to the amenities of a larger town. Be sure to check out Phoenix Park and the downtown area, and ride both loops within Eau Claire -- the one via Carson Park and the other along the river through UW-Eau Claire.
Nice scenic trail that goes along the river. Paved and nice to ride a bike, run or walk next to the river.
What a beautiful, relaxing place to walk or bike. The trail winds around with trees to give one shade.
This is a great trail that goes through both the new and old parts of Eau Claire. The only problem we had --- the locals have no idea where the trail is. They must obviously call it something other than the Chippewa River Trail. The easiest way to find it is to go downtown. The trail starts at the end of each of the pedestrian bridges crossing the Chippewa River.
Trail system is great, a mix of city and country. Nice sweeping trails and views.
We have most awesome trail system in the Eau Claire area. You can go 15 miles on this trail. Lots of wildlife!
At the international native American flute convention. Having too much fun! Right across from Putman hall ( campus housing) is the trails... the campus is divided by the Chippawa river, trails are on both sides.
