This is more than a visitor center. They have food demos and lots of kitchen nic naks to buy. So more of a kitchen store than I thought. Staff was very nice and any question I may have had about Greendale

We visited about five years ago and it was much busier back then. We heard Readers Digest moved out and this quaint shopping mall seemed a slower and a little quieter this time. Cute shops and worth a trip for an afternoon stroll and shop. Coffee shop across the we street was good. The chai latte stood out.

As others have said, there isn't much to this place anymore. They do have group cooking classes and tours for a fee, if you schedule in advance, but for the rest of us, it is just another cooking store. Go here, if you want to buy Taste of Home cookbooks or magazines, at a discount, and to buy kitchen things. I do have to say that the staff is VERY friendly and knowledgable and you can get a pamphlet for a walking tour of Greendale, which has some interesting houses and history.

We went to the former Greendale Visitor center because we had read about a fantastic collection of all 322 Norman Rockwell covers and we were expecting a free performance of a barbershop quartet which we thought took place every Wednesday. Instead, we found a store selling merchandise and not much else other than a free birdhouse collection (fewer than a dozen) and an informational video which we were too disappointed to watch.

I had visited the visitor center several times before in the past with relatives visiting from out of town. They always enjoyed it. It was set up with an outlet store in the basement, but upstairs there was a wonderful Norman Rockwell exhibit & parts about the history of the Reiman Publications. There was also a test kitchen that was fun. While recently in Greendale, we stopped in. My son loves museums & history & I knew he would enjoy it. We were so disappointed to see that all the museum & history items had been boxed up. Now all that is left is a small retail shop. We won't be stopping again. There was nothing special there that couldn't have been purchased at any mall kitchen storeIt is a real shame this happened to a wonderful attraction in a great little historic town.

This village has it all, for all ages too! Great food at Joey Gerard's , awesome custard at ferches , sports bar at Panthers and the cheapest drinks in Milwaukee at ray and dots on the edge if town!

I have been up to Greendale with group trips numerous times. The most recent one however, was very disappointing. They closed almost all areas of the visitors center except the store, which does have seem great items but still, the displays are all gone. The shops in Greendale seemed to have closed, or changed to more everyday places, not the unique places that used to be there. Still it’s a beautiful town and the visitors’ center staff are the friendliest anywhere!

We had heard for years that the Reiman Visitor Center was an interesting place to visit, with a intoductory video, museum, cooking demonstrations, a Rockwell display, and other attractions. We never could work a trip there into our schedule, until recently. We were in Western WI visiting family and decided to go well out of our way to Greendale. It was a huge mistake. There was nothing there to see but some sort of outlet store, with everything else gone. Even in the town itself, there were a few stores and very few places to eat. There was nothing special that we could not have found at dozens of other places. We had planned to spend a day there but ended up spending an hour or so. That completely messed up our entire trip back to PA. Our recommendation is not to bother with the visitor's center or the town.

This place was absolutely amazing and beautiful. The grounds were maintained impeccably and Christmas decorations and the like were awesome. Then Readers Digest came and bought it and now it's like nobody really cares any more............

Love to go here and just look at all the great new books and publications available to purchase, but I love all the other things you can check out that are for the kitchen, and other areas of the house. Greendale is a great little area to walk around as well and see all the other shops along the street. Just have fun looking even it you don't intend to buy something.

They have a great selection of cookbooks, gadgets etc at good prices, but check out the closeout tables, where the real bargains live. Got a $25.00 item new for $1.00

This is the type of place that is worth looking into. It has a variety of things available to you. In the beautiful village of Greendale, Wi.

I have been a reader of Taste of Home magazine for years. I love it! I have seen how they advertise their visitors center as a great place to come to visit. While traveling in WI I was excited to stop by. First of all it looks much better in the pictures online and in the magazine than it does in person. It is actually pretty small and part of a strip mall. I thought it was it's own stand-alone building from the pictures. There is not really much to it inside. Upstairs is pretty sparse. There is one wall of a collection of Norman Rockwell paintings. I guess that is pretty neat to see if you are interested in his work. There is a cooking demonstration area, but I asked and there were no activities happening anytime while we were there. (Not sure how to find out the schedule.) Downstairs there is an outlet shopping center, but once again I was very disappointed. There was not much to it either. There are a few kitchen items, old cookbooks, overpriced back-issues of magazines and outdated sweatshirts, etc. Overall I felt it was a waste of my time to stop by and check this place out. I would not recommend for anyone to go unless you really really like Norman Rockwell and want to see a wall of his works.
