My friends and I happened upon this gem one day after canoeing. We did the basic tour which included a shuttle to the house and a casual walk down through the sculpture gardens. I have been to several of FLW houses including Fallingwater and Taliesin East and this is definitely my favorite. The gift shop has lots of beautiful options, the staff is friendly and eager to share informaton and don't miss the Hagan Ice Cream... made by the original owners.

Stopped here on our holiday trip to Pa and we were not disappointed. We have seen Fallingwater in the past and while this is also a FLR home it is much different. Much more homey, cozy feel. Emily was wonderful with our tour and seemed quite knowledgeable about the home. Would recommend this tour to anyone traveling in the area.

This house is not Fallingwaters, we visited the day after visiting Fallingwaters. The house is a Frank Lloyd Wright house, you can tell by the design. The house is interesting and you wouldn't think it as big as it is since the front is small. If you are into the designs of Frank Lloyd Wright then this is a must see.

If you are a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright you should visit Kentuck Knob after you visit Fallingwater. If you are just curious about man and his work visit Fallingwater. Personally, I am as interested in the art in the homes as much as in the home itself. Here again Fallingwater far out does Kentuck Knob. Kentuck Knob has a collection of outdoor sculptures. But again not interesting enough to write home about unless you have an interest.

I have been to several of the famous Wright homes including many in Chicago and I must say that Kentuck Knob is one of my favorites if not my favorite. The style is so wonderful, and unlike many of Wright's homes in my opinion, it feels very "homey." I love the organic, Usonian style of Wright and he employed it so well with this house. A DEFINITE must for any Frank Lloyd Weight fan!

This is a spectacular example of Wright architecture built specifically for homeowners who loved his work. The house has many interesting features that were ingenious at the time. The cost of the tour is steep at $22, but the tour guide did a very good job and was very knowledgeable about the home, it's designer and owners past and present. We were entertained by the stories of the history of the home and it's construction. We were there on a cold and blustery day, but it would be even more spectacular in the heart of any season.

Everyone visits Falling Watre and many do not know that just 6 miles away is another Frank Lloyd Wright house, Kentuck Knob. This is a far more modest house and Wright did not get all his own way with the lady who owned it- so it is a very liveable space!Well worth a visit.

Make sure you go to Kentuck Knob if you visit Fallingwater. While not as big, certainly not as famous, you get a real taste of Mr. Wright's style just down the road from its more famous older sibling. The tour guide was excellent, telling many funny story and keeping things moving along at a brisk, but not hurried pace. If you love Mr. Wright's work, you'll love Kentuck Knob, no doubt. If you are unfamiliar with Mr. Wright's work, probably best to visit Fallingwater first, but Kentuck Knob will not disappoint.

This is a private home designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright who also designed Fallingwater which is nearby. Kentuck Knob was fist owned by the Hagen family (Ice Cream company in Pittsburgh) and is now owned by a British Lord Palumbo, who vacationed there from 1986-96. Now the home is open for tours year round. The tour is a bit pricy ($22) compared to the much bigger house at Fallingwaters ($25), but I feel it is a must see if you are also in the area to visit Fallingwaters.

Only a short pretty drive from Fallingwater this is a must to give you a different taste of Wright’s work. Although not as grand as Fallingwater the level of detail, thought and artistry that Wright places in all of his work is here for everyone to enjoy.

Just a few miles from Fallingwater and not as elaborate, but definitely worth a visit. You park in the lot and a shuttle takes you up the hill to the home. The home tour lasts about 30 minutes. The original furnishings are in the home. There are great views from the top overlook. Opt to walk back down to the visitor center and parking lot, rather than taking the shuttle, so you can walk through the sculpture garden which includes a piece of the Berlin wall, about a 20 minute easy walk. The visitor center has a gift shop and café.

This isn't the only attraction in the States which seems to be mosty about the guide. From the moment we sat down on the bus, our guide kept up a continuous commentary, obviously learnt by rote, and which betrayed very little interest in the house or its designer. Her main objective was to herd us through as fast as possible and it seemed a irritation to her that we took an interest in, and wanted to look at, aspects of the house not in her script. Most of the time I just wanted her to shut up and let us take in what is, after all, a visual, not aural, experience. Alas, that is not the style.

Visited on a Sat. morning. Our tour guide Sarah was tremendous. She was a guest of the original owners when she a child. She clearly loves the house, had great enthusiasm and knew much of the history. The private owners have put a lot of care and attention into the home. The only downside was the fairly hideous British sculptures in the garden. The owner is a British Lord. Friendly staff, comfortable visit.

The 4 of us enjoy touring Frank Lloyd Wright designed homes but our tour guide left a lot to be desired. A supervisor needs to go with her and decide if her pronounciation of Illinois and her grammar are what is expected from a guide for 12 people who paid 22 dollars each. She certainly did not meet our expectations for a guide at any level, but the house did!

The tour, lasting about an hour and costing $22 per adult, was excellent. The home isn't as grand as Fallingwater, but it is just as good an example of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. If you're in the area, don't miss it. The first time through, I did. I regretted it, and returned, which I don't regret.
