We've seen the sign on the PA Turnpike for years, and finally went to Gravity Hill earlier this week. totally non-commercialized, it just sits in the middle of nowhere with no souvenirs, no cost, and fair directions. I know it's an optical illusion, but, I swear, our car went uphill while in neutral! Turned around and did it again traveling from west to east, but the effect was significantly reduced going in this direction. Well worth the trip!

I highly recommend making this a road trip or part of your Bedford County road trip! I had been wanting to do this for over 10 years and finally took the time to venture off the beaten path (from my normal I-99/220 travels) and made this happen. It is quite remarkable and will get people talking! FUN, and in the middle of nowhere!

We always seek out oddities on our road trips and this was a hoot! I am a science teacher and know this is an optical illusion but it is pretty darn amazing! Visited on our way to Johnstown Nd if you enjoy goofy stuff, don't miss it!

Don't get the wrong idea this is just a small road in the middle of nowhere - no facilities at all.It was, however, a blast. You won't believe your eyes. Bring a ball and a bottle of water along but truly - experience it in your car!! The road has beginning and end markers spray painted on the road.

We were traveling from Bedford to the Flight 93 Memorial and I had picked up a brochure for Gravity Hill that was along the way I don't know what I expected. It's just a country road in the middle of nowhere with white spray paint on the road marking the start with the the initials G.H. Just as represented your car rolls uphill at two different places. I'm glad I stopped and saw it, but don't expect any touristy shops or anything else. It is what it is.

Reading the slick brochures for Gravity Hill you might get the false impression that this is a really well produced attraction. Fortunately I was able to check it out on You tube and see what it's all about. As others have mentioned, the signs are really poor and the markings are basically some faded spray paint on the road. But, that said, it was a fun stop with my young kids as we checked out other sites in the area. I would not suggest making a special trip just to see Gravity Hill, but if you're out visiting the covered bridges, the deer farm, bison farm and other "attractions" in the area like we were, then it's worth a stop.

Make sure it's on your way. Fun with kids, but don't overanalyze it, just go with the flow, do it the way the brochure says. We tried it the other way first, and that killed the illusion.

Around Central PA, you will find brochures with directions to Gravity Hill... follow the directions carefully as you will never find this place on your own and bring your sense of humor. They don't really do any marketing other than the brochures and the paint marks on the road, so pay attention or you'll miss it. I was disappointed because I wanted a TShirt or a bumper sticker, but no shameless marketing opportunities here. The brochure leads you to think that the lack of gravity in the area will literally pull your car up a hill! Well... kind of... not really, but it's awfully fun to check it out. I've been there twice, once when I was a little kid and once as an adult. We were there fairly early in the morning, so no one else was around and we had a chance to play with it a little rolling golf balls up the hill and pouring water and watching it go up the hill. When you put the car in neutral and it pulls you up the hill, it's kind of freaky. It's something that you just have to do if you're in New Paris but I wouldn't recommend packing up the kids and driving all day to get there unless you have some other reason for the trip and want to use this as a diversion. If you're expecting a grand destination, you will be disappointed, but if you just want 15 minutes of silly fun as you're driving through the area, I would recommend it.

We were there on a weekday and no one else was around. We could see the "GH End" markings on the pavement, but no starting point. So to clarify, just go downhill(?) from the end marking about 500 yards and put it in neutral. If you go to the barn at the bottom (?), you've gone too far. At least I think you have- it might work form there, we didn't try it.

Gravity Hill - where one puts one's car in neutral at a certain point and it then magically glides uphill! As the other reviewer said, it's an illusion, but it sure is a whole lot of fun at absolutely zero cost. We had no trouble finding the start/stop markings on the road, but it is indeed off the beaten path and a bit tricky to find. But if you're not in a hurry and enjoy a bit of good, goofy fun - go find Gravity Hill.

I know it is an illusion but it worked. And it was cool. It was way out of the way and a little hard to find but it was cool. If you are close by try it out for grins and giggles. We found it online and there were very clear directions to this and on how to do it, so that helped find the markings.

We drove slightly out of the way to go here. Once we got there, however we were disappointed. It is a neat idea, but the markings on the road for where to stop and start are hard to see until you've passed them. We had to back up a few times to get things going. There should be bigger signs or something. And for any out doors person, you can clearly see through this illusion. Not worth the drive
