Childs Park is a part of Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The area has trails that follow Dingmans Creek as it drops over several waterfalls. On a weekday in the spring or fall it is almost deserted and a very peaceful place to spend time. It can get a bit crowded during summer weekends but is still worth the time and effort to walk in this beautiful place. The waterfalls are at their best after a heavy rain but even during the driest time of year they have an ethereal quality to them that you must see to understand.

To see all the falls you need to be able to hike up and down stairs. The park has been renovated after having been closed for two years for repairs. The access has changed with more viewing spots but less access to the creek itself. It is still a great place to visit and picnic. Be prepared to remove all your picnic paraphernalia and debris since there are no trash receptacles. This is to protect the wildlife that might eat things that are bad for them. We love to visit this park often.

Childs Park was closed for repairs over a year ago. The park has had new paths made with steps and railings and picnic benches at various places along the path. A new overlook platform was built to view the falls. No swimming signs are ignored. Be careful, the rocks are slippery. We've had picnics at the park, we've brought in BBQ grills and set up the picnic tables for a crowd of 12 or more. You can bring games, toss a bean bag at the target, or a frisbee to toss around. The falls are beautiful, since I live in the area I've taken pictures of the falls in all seasons. There's a deli at the intersection of Milford road and Silverlake road, it's called sister's, good sandwiches.

If you're are local Its worth the trip, not more than a hour,NYC ….. The Falls are at their best during the winter months, with beautiful ice formations. You must be good on your feet however it is very very icy on the trails. I believe the Park is closed in the winter months for this reason. The front gate is closed, however no one bothers you as I believe you're going at your own risk. If you love hiking go see the Falls before the ice melts!

It was open 24/7/365 until the 3-4yr project to improve it Definition of improvement: unsure of hours or days open, lesser parking, but better out housesWonderful labyrinth of trails, boardwalks, bridges, stairs (can be quite a work out), all throughout this hemlock grove surrounding the Dingmans Creek & multiple waterfallsPicnic grove available I live 1.5mi away & go often to chill out and commune w/in this natural spectacular micro-environment that has not been ruinedIt's free too

This was a pleasant, easy walk/ hike in a wooded setting with a number of small waterfalls. In addition, there are ruins of a foundation of an old mill from the 1800s. It is certainly worth seeing once if you're in the area.

This park was re-done in the past year or so and what a change it has made. There are walking trails to follow which make it so much easier to see all the falls. It is a beautiful park. There are a few differant waterfalls to see and the walk is worth it. But,If you have mobility issues, this would be a hard park to go through. It is one of my favorite places to go to and have been there many times. I love it!!! The veiwing platforms are great as well. It's a great place to take your children as well!

Went walking the short trail through the park recently. . It was breath taking with the beautiful colors and the waterfalls.. the path is well marked and accessible. Wish I had a park like this near me. Definitely one of the prettiest trails I have walked in a while..

BlackPlace

Lots of varied scenery with easy to walk trails BUT trails not clearly marked and map of the park difficult to follow. If you have limited time and can't afford to get lost, wouldn't wander too far from the car.

This was an easy walk in the woods with many waterfalls located in the delaware water gap and close to the Appalachian trail. We were there on a Saturday in the fall and the park was almost empty. Do take into consideration that there are stairs in order to do the entire circuit but the steps and trails are beautifully maintained. Due to the lack of rain the falls were much smaller than in the spring. The changing leaves were spectacular. There are the ruins of an old mill in the park which is very interesting with explanatory signage. Definitely recommend for all ages

Loved it all. A nice hike with so much beauty. So many great lookout platforms and bridges to view from. Will have to return at another season to see the changes. A must in NEPA waterfalls.

I have been visiting Childs Park since I was a kid. It's my favorite place! It is easy to hike and the falls are beautiful.

Free park with beautiful falls. Trails could be better marked, but were challenging. Leaves were colorful also. We would definitely return.

I've been going to Child's Park for many years, and the recent improvements to the park are great! The new bathrooms (outhouses) are clean. The trails are well maintained. The trails are flat and smooth, the steps are made of wood. They are wood benches along the way, are made from fallen trees in the park. The waterfalls are beautiful, although this time when I went the water was not flowing so strongly (guess they haven't had much rain). There are picnic tables if you want to bring lunch with you. Sneakers or good walking shoes are a must.

...you are ruining the experience. Yes, you. The trails are easily managed, the falls are wonderful, there is plenty of other easy hiking to do off the trails, lots of streams to dip your toes into off the trails and there are clean rustic bathrooms. However, the lovely area adjacent to the parking area has been ruined by groups of people who now use it for sunbathing and swimming. You are not supposed to go into the water, but that never stops anyone, which had turned this peaceful, contemplative area into a zoo. I used to take my dogs here all the time for some long leisurely walks in peace but on the weekends, frankly, there is no difference between here and Costco--it's that unpleasant.
