I've lived near the zoo all of my life. I've always enjoyed coming to visit the animals. It is a quiet, quaint little zoo that children and adults love! My favorite part has always been on the drive out....driving "through" the little creek to get to the other side! My kids always squeal with joy! As you make your way out of the park, you will take winding roads past elk and Bison. The top of the road has
Great place for children and adults to visit. Beautiful country surroundings as well.Don't miss the penguins show !!
My company rented out the zoo for a after hours party at the zoo. It was wonderful to say the least. We pre-purchased several activities to be included in our party and had a DJ keep everybody entertained at the snack bar. LV Zoo catered our event at a very reasonable price, although I think the set up could've been done better.Overall, everybody loved the event and want to do this event again next year!
Visited this little zoo with my son's second grade class as their field trip. The exhibits are clean and appropriate for each type of animal. The staff that gave the animal presentation that we saw was knowledgeable and friendly and genuinely cared for the animals. The highlight of the zoo for the kids came on the way out, the the zoo's real hidden gem - the free range buffalo herd! The kids really loved seeing these massive beauties on the winding path leading back to the main road. My only complaint was the lack of an open gift shop for our group. We had over 100 kids, each clutching at least $10 they were just dying to spend and kids that age will buy just about anything to have a souvenir. Seems like a missed opportunity for the zoo to have made some money to fund this lovely little preserve.
We went to the Christmas light display. The lights were really good, loved the different sections. Pictures with Sanata, Frozen and grinch characters. Great evening with the family. They also had hot chocolate and roasting marshmallows for sale. It was a little expensive for a family of 5. Loved they were playing The year without a Santa movie. This is great family event and hope to make this our new family Christmas tradition!
Loved all the animals that my family and I got to see!. Theres lots to do from feeding the animals and watching the birds and the animals is very good experience! I enjoyed taking my family there and will be returning next summer!. They also have lights during winter season which I heard is very nice and inexpensive!
First off $14 for admission is ridiculous! The lights were awful! The online ad I'd misleading, it makes it sound all inclusive and it's not.Way too expensive."HOT" chocolate was cold...at $2.00 a small cup.I could go to DD and get a bigger cup for less.$3.00 for 3 marshmallows on a stick...cmon? We will not be going back.Plus the guy bugs you to pay 5 bucks for a bucket of fake snowballs...lol...ridiculous. These people are thieves.
Beautiful! I will definitely go back! Very fun for the kids and big kids at heart. So pretty with all the lights. I loved the different themes, like the Frozen area. We knew we were coming up to it because of all the blue and White lights, or the Grinch section with the Green lights. Truly Awesome displays. I loved the Barn with the movies playing. I do think there are a couple of kinks that need to be worked out. It really didn't make sense to me why we had to go in 1 line to purchase tickets for the extras you can do then go in another line to get those extras. Example: I went into a line to purchase tickets for hot chocolate. Then went into another line to get the hot chocolate. Eliminate the ticket line, put those 2 people over with the people serving the hot chocolate and just take cash. It eliminates your over head because you don't need to purchase tickets, people wouldn't need to stand in 2 lines and the one line would go quicker. There was confusion about where to go to get the tickets, then I got tickets that were not used so I spent extra money I didn't need to spend. If I could have paid cash that wouldn't have happened. Besides the ticket thing, I mean really they go above and beyond! The letters to Santa, the bells they give out in the lines while you are waiting, the cookies. It really is awesome and cant wait to go back!
The winter light spectacular was beautiful. One of the best light displays I have ever seen. The kids loved the little dance party by cafeteria. We will be making this a family tradition.
My favorite place in Schnecksville next to my home. Wonderful scenery and photo opportunities.Great selection of critters!! I love them all (except maybe the alligator). It is a great place to walk and enjoy a beautiful day even in the winter. Many times you will even see our local wild life visiting there as you enter and leave and walk around. Wonderful elk and buffalo herds and this year there were even some baby buffalo. This year they are having a Light Festival during the holiday season and I am looking forward to going. I always buy a season membership.Hope to see you there!
A grandparent pass is a must! Get to take grand kids as many times as you want at no charge. Interesting exhibits and activities all year long. beautiful picnic areas.
Very enjoyable visit and interesting sights and animals. Very pleased with people working at LV Zoo.
Very good layouts, nice walk through light display. Good for both families, couples, young, and young at heart.
Great Holiday LightsWe weren’t sure what to expect. Is it another drive through, where you take your time driving around the Zoo, or is it something else.It is absolutely something else. It is one of the best layouts of LED lights that we have ever seen. You actually walk through, next to, and around animated and non-animated light displays that had us catching our breath. Being out in the country, the black sky (with no light haze filtering in), made the holiday lights that much brighter. The holiday lights display, is a masterpiece created by “Christmas Décor”. Your appreciation won’t be fully realized until you get to make the turn behind the lower section. The lower section has about 5 buildings, but no instructions on where to go from there. After you entertain yourselves in the lower area, backtrack about 20 steps, and walk behind the first building. Take the path to the right, and immerse yourself in the dazzling lights from the ground and up through the trees. I am not going to go into detail, but I wanted to point out that lower path. I am sure that 90% of the people did not see, or have any idea that the path was there. Now, starting at the entrance booth, after you pay to get in, go to the left (which is the way the path will lead you), and stop at the outside of the Chalet style building. If you have kids, this is a must. Not because Santa is in there, but because the bathrooms are there. Santa, for the children, is a given. But, since it is cold outside, and these are the only bathrooms in the Zoo, having them go will make your holiday experience less stressful. There are some venders, not many, and some free features. Since the Zoo is out in the country, wear heavy clothes, warm boots (walking on asphalt ), gloves, and something over your head. It is only open from Wednesday through Sunday, from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. There are plenty of places to take photos of the kids, and some selfies. (Closed Thanksgiving day and Christmas day), and the last day is January 10th, 2015.What the Zoo needs to do. -With what I have seen, it will eventually need 4 booth lanes, not only 2.-It needs at least 3 heated portable toilets, at the lower area, behind the first building section. My suggestion is to place them up against the metal fence.-Large, illuminated signs, directing you to the parking area.-And again, large illuminated signs, raised 8 ft. up, to direct you to the way out.-Needs to prepare the grassy area before the Zoo parking lot, for overflow parking. Have 3 to 4 people directing traffic, guiding people where to park, and where to go.-Prepare for Bus’s. One last thing. We, while going to our car in the parking lot, walked onto the grassy section (in the parking lot) to mingle with the decorated trees. Be careful. It is hard to see the thin tree branches that are at face level. Have a wonderful HolidayJerryandbarb8 (our TripAdvisor name)
This zoo is located in a beautiful mountain setting. There is a very picturesque drive into the Zoo with great places to take pictures of the Leigh Valley. The Zoo itself is a bit small but well worth the price for families with younger children. There zoo has some very nice animal display areas including a petting Zoo. Great picnic area and walking paths are all around the zoo. There are some great hiking trails outside the zoo as well.
