The Pittsburgh Children's Museum is a great destination for families with younger and pre-teen children. There are a lot of activities, and the water area on the top floor is always a hit. I recommend this destination for a few hours whn in Pittsburgh.

We have brought our son here on several occasions. We decided this year to get a season pass. This is a great place to bring kids. A TON of interactive activities for younger kids (our son is 7). I haven't seen another Children's Museum this well done anywhere. Pack a lunch though, if you can. The food there is on the expensive side.

If you're looking for the places in Pittsburgh to go with kids, this is one of the top 3. (See also Science Center, Natural History Museum) Tons to do, lots to explore. I'd plan half a day for younger kids, slightly less for older elementary school age. Near the Science Center so make a day of the two.

My boys love the Children's Museum! They have a great staple of play areas for kids of varying ages and abilities. They have a nursery area for little creepers so even the littlest kids can get out of the stroller and explore. There are lots of hands on stations where kids can build and create freely. There are plenty of staff members around to supervise and assist as needed. There is a new exhibit every few months so even if you live close by there are plenty of reasons to make repeat trips. My boys especially love the water play area -- I always bring an extra change of clothes just in case. There is a cafe right in the museum for when the kiddos get the munchies. we will be coming back to play again soon!

It was fun and of course educational. There were so many activities we will have to go again sometime soon. A very accommodating facility. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Great little museum, lots of hands on and energy using activities. Will definitely go again. i will bring a change of clothing as the water area was great, but very wet. they have an adult night that my 23 year daughter is eager to attend. The activities were intriguing for us adults also.

I'm not that fond of the children's museum. It seems to cater more to adults than kids and the exhibits which are fun and exciting switch so often it is disappointing to visit. We were members for a year and found that after the 3rd visit, my son only wanted to play in the car or the water room which was often closed. He was upset the treadmill always seemed to be broken. He became so bored, he didn't want to go anytime I suggested it.

Two kids and two parents, well-entertained and somewhat educated after spending half a day at this museum. Frankly, if we hadn't had a birthday celebration to attend, we could've stayed longer. Pack spare (dry) clothes unless you plan to avoid the third floor water feature. The kids LOVED it, and they were soaked despite the waterproof aprons provided. It was fabulous, though. Well worth the visit and the soaking.

I originally thought that this museum was just for small children, but there are so many activities that are geared towards older kids as well. Actually kids of all ages. Lots of art and hands on experiences.

My kids are 8 and 14 and this was perfect for them. We have visited other children's museums and this has so far been the best. Worth the admission. We spent about three hours there and that seemed about right.

This is a decent children's museum for younger kids. My kids were 12 and 9 which was a little too old for this place. I would recommend it for kids 8 and younger. They have a nice art area where kids can paint and sculpt and get real creative. They also had a number of different interactive attractions enough to keep a little one entertained all day. Like everyone else has said, if you want them to play in the water area bring a change of clothes because they can get completely soaked if they want. Free if you have a membership to a astc affiliated museum.

We took the grandchildren, age 2 and 4 to the Childrens Museum in Pittsburgh. It was wonderful. We spent hours there. The children played and played. On one floor they have water exhibits, the kids will get wet, so bring extra clothes or a swim suit. The exhibits were very good. Of course, this is Pittsburgh and they are great with science and teaching. They have exhibits outside during the nice weather. We could not enjoy them, it was December. The staff was nice. It was not crowded when we were there during the week. I can imagine on a weekend or days off of school it would be. It was over a two hour drive for us but worth it. Cons: There is a parking fee, $6.00 and the admission proce I thought was expensive $14 for adults and $13 for children over 2. So the trip was not cheap, but we still enjoyed it. If you live in the area, get a season pass They have a nice lunch room , so you can bring your lunch and of course you can buy their food. Plenty of restrooms around

This is such a great museum. There is so much to do for kids of all ages. There is always a special section that they rotate every few months, so it never gets old. They also have a lot of unique play areas that wear the kids out. My favorite is the Mr. Rogers tribute area. A great value in Pittsburgh!

On our most recent trip to Pittsburgh we took our daughter to the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh and she enjoyed every square inch of it! For a dad it was amazing to watch my toddler paint a picture on one of their easels on main floor. I could tell her wheels were spinning on what color to use next. The staff was helpful and friendly. She also enjoyed all of the exhibits there from the tilted room slide to the see how your voice travels phone room. The biggest hit for her by far was the water room; this room takes up the entire third floor. She loved playing there watching the water go down in a spiral to just filling up and cup of water and dumping it down a drain. She had a wonderful time. My mind was brought back to my childhood and a giant smile was on my face when we went to the second floor and saw that they had Mr. Rogers Neighborhood of Make Believes Puppets on display. I was impressed with every part of this museum and I know we will coming back here several times in the years to come.

We have a membership for the Children's Museum and I can not say enought wonderful things about the staff. Every staff member that we have come in contact with has been super friendly and very helpful. By far Ms. Maria is our favorite, she always remembers who we are and makes it a point to say hello to us when she sees we are there. The museum is every changing and always a wonderful time. Our favorite area is the art and craft room! Thank you to all of the amazing staff at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh! We look forward to our next visit, which I am sure will be soon!
