Grounds team did a great job with snow removal. Arena was clean ticketing staff was friendly. However, my seat usher in Section 116 was quite rude. I guess if you don't understand the blood, sweat, and tears that go in to these young men reaching this level of competition, you wouldn't understand the emotions of the family and friends that have supported them along their journey. Without this it would have been a 5 star review.
Great stadium, great local team spirit and fan base, this is a local experience to have. We went with a conference group well organized
The concerts they host are always well organized and safe! We have been to multiple. The parking is easy, the lines are fast, and the over all security is reassuring.
Caught a Bears game recently. Nice clean venue with good hockey sightlines. Box office staff and other workers friendly and helpful. Excellent food choices with affordable prices (for sports venues). Crowd, in our section, was family friendly (no cursing, yelling, excessive boozing).Only issues we had ... the 200 seating section is somewhat confusing for us rookies. We ended up walking through a row of seats and disturbing other fans trying to navigate to our section. In some areas, you have to walk to the top of the arena, across a section or two, then down, to get to your seats if you want to avoid walking thru row of seats. Also, leaving the arena was dreadful. There were 9,500 fans there and it took us 30 minutes to get out of the lot. Parking was $8, by the way. Those are minor issues, and we enjoyed the game and the Center. Beats the Scope in Norfolk, that's for sure.
Went to a few hockey games and always have a good time. Also an excellent view of the ice! The Bears are affiliated with the Washington Capitals of the NHL. The average hockey game is 2-1/2 hours. Cost depends on how you purchase the tickets. On line cost is $27 - $39 taxes included. At the box office advanced purchase $19 - $25. Game day $21 - $27. plus tax. Hint always park close to the exit. They also charge for parking.
always has great performances here, clean and nice, good selection through out the year! Always have a nice time no matter the event.
We went to a Hershey Bears game on a Friday night, and were so hppy with our experience. Great Box Office Staff that helped with tickets when we calle ahead. The concessions were better than many other venues of this size, offering different food choices besides te standard hotdog, pizza, pretzel options. The ushers in the section were eve extremely friend, and enjoyed the sporting event wth the fans. Overall, a very nice place to see a game. Woul love to come back when in the aea.
I came here recently for a Bear's game and had a great time. I was seated one row up from the ice, but I've sat much higher up in the past. I can't say I've ever had a bad seat, and it's easy to get around the place. The food has always been good, even though it's too expensive, and they had a reasonable beer selection considering what it is. The staff is always friendly. The only thing I would warn people about is the fact that the seats are packed in tightly. Don't expect to have much room if you're wearing a big coat, have a big purse, or if you're a larger person. That is the only reason I'm giving this place 4 Stars. Outside of that complaint, 5 Stars.
Saw the Hershey Bears. Used to NHL hockey, so this was much more cozy with better food prices. Bought tix at box office, but can find deals on Craigs List or Ebay. Less so on Stub hub, but might get lucky. Go see a game! You'll sit close to the ice for a low price.
Been here for Bears games, even got to play hockey here! Not a bad seat in the house, no obstructed views! Always an animated and lively crowd! Actually a better (and cheaper) experience than an NHL game
When Giant Center opened in 2002, it became home to the most storied team in the AHL. The then 8 time champs would go on to win 3 more cups in Giant Center. Because of this, the passion for the Bears is strong, no quiet "why am I here?" fan in this arena. Instead it fills up (always a crowd of at least 8,000, are rarely below 9,000) with hockey smart fans that are into the sport of hockey and what they are talking about. Always into the game, always into the Bears. Not your aggressive "going to kill the other team if we lose" type, but not "eh who cares" fans either. Just a strong, loyal, fan base who wants to see a good game and a Bears win. Because of the fan's passion and the Bears history, this a must see for hockey fans everywhere, to see a strong team with a whole town behind them, no matter how they play. As for the arena itself, the place is great to see. They have a lot of bathrooms that are clean, so even in a sell out the bathroom is not a chore. The food selection is great. From hot roast beef sandwiches, to pizza, to deli, to pasta, to BBQ, to burgers, chicken, fries, ice cream, and of course Hershey bars, as well as the usual choices. The wide concourses are easy to get around, but can pack up before the game and in between periods. Throughout the concourse the Bears have the team photos of their 11 cup wining teams, raffle tickets, stores, JR. Bears stand, special items for sale, and more. A recent added site is the "Hershey hockey hall fame" wall, that shows pictures of all the Bears legends as well as old things from the past. Tables and chairs line the back of the arena, a place to sit and eat for an early bird (or bear) The seating bowl is filled with brown plastic chairs. There isn't an upper concourse; instead stairs around the arena lead to the correct section. The score board is high tech and HD, shows replays and contests etc. Another scoreboard also shows the score but serves as a out of town scoreboard as well. It also show up coming events in chocolate town.
We visit a few times each season to watch the Bears. There's not a bad seat in the house. Friendly and helpful staff and plenty of decent food available. We haven't encountered any obnoxious fans either. It's always been a pleasant experience
I have been here on two occasions: one for a Hershey Bears hockey game and one for a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert. Before speaking of the arena, let's start with getting to it first. There is one primary road to get to the entrance of the Giant Center, broken up into 4 lanes that is shared with traffic for Hersheypark and Chocolate World. Pay attention to the signs and get in the needed lanes as early as possible. Parking costs $8 which is lower than other places but still a tad on the high side for my liking. If you play your cards right, the wait for a parking spot can be lessened if you do not try to get as close as possible. Parking farther away can be a benefit since you can get out quicker. As you get in the arena, you will notice what everyone else does: overpriced food. This is no different than if you went to Philly for a Flyers game or Reading for a Royals game. If you don't need food, don't get it. And obviously, any souvenirs that you can get is also going to be pricey in general. That's supply and demand. The seating in the arena is pretty good. Even in the nosebleeds for the hockey match, the view wasn't bad. Obviously, cheaper seats are further from the action but that's not always a bad thing.
As a hockey fan, I always enjoy coming to Giant Center. Not a bad seat in the house. Great sight lines. The concourse is wide with plenty of food and beverage choices. The staff here is friendly and are more than happy to point you in the right direction. For an arena of this size, plenty of bathrooms and they were spotless. For an awesome evening of Hershey Bears hockey or a concert, the GC is easily accessible, right off of HersheyPark Drive, parking is easy and ample. Getting out at the end of the event is even easier, with tons of staff directing folks where to go. It's a great building and for an afternoon or evening full of fun, Giant Center is certainly a sweet place to be.
We had a great time watching the Bears. The whole evening was family friendly and a lot of fun. Our seats were great, too!
