Great little stop on the tour, we felt like we were back in Rome here! wenonly needed about 20-30 minutes here and our guide told us exactly were to go to get picked up then.
this was a magnificent church! So much to look at. Another perk is that it is free to visit! We stopped here on our walk from the Franklin Institute back to our hotel in Center City and it was the perfect spot to stop and rest and take in the beauty of this church.
Though the church isn´t all that old, it´s very beautiful and imponent. The altar and vitrals are gorgeous. A must see.
The Basilica is absolutely beautiful and awe inspiring. It has retained it's original religious "flavor" in that there has been no "modernization" of the religious symbols throughout (as there has been in many of the Roman Catholic churches). It is what a church is and, should be about: a place that inspires, comforts and brings peace one's soul.
We stopped briefly and looked inside. No charge and interesting basilica with an open door on a cold Monday afternoon.
This is a stunning Roman cathedral which has been carefully maintained. We went to high mass and it inures to the traditions of the church. There is a tour you can take after the service which includes the crypt in the basement.
Took a break from museum viewing to visit the cathedral. Would like to have seen a pamphlet to walk around with, and the chance to have seen the altar up closer. It's a magnificent structure, but I would have liked to have learned more. There is a phone program available, but I couldn't seem to access it. I enjoyed seeing the Celtic altar in particular.
We attended a beautiful Mass by the Archbishop, the side chapels are so beautiful. Parking is difficult.
An absolutely beautiful church. Wonderful Sunday mass before heading home. The stained glass is impressive and the altar is magnificent.
In short this is as spectacular as many of the cathedrals in Europe--the tour was not available when I was there but even to just look around it is well worth the effort just to appeciate the artistry--it is a short walk from the convention area hotels so if you have a few minutes to spare I think you will be impressed.
This is such a beautiful Cathedral! We visited the Cathedral in Rome Italy and for a brief minute we thought we were back in Italy again,
Catholic's as well as others will appreciate the beauty of this Cathedral. The whole area will be crowded with the Pope's visit in September 2015.
We had a fun, educational & very interesting tour - given by Jim McCrea- an outstanding tour guide - we were pleasantly surprised & really enjoyed our visit.
Daily mass at 7:30am and 12:05, it's in the chapel, not main church. Beautiful art work, there is a self guided tour you can take.
A beautiful and awe inspiring place to visit or to spend in contemplation. The artwork is magnificent.
