I rented a bike near the boat houses and was able to bike through the park visiting 4 colonial era mansions and a Japanese house and garden. There were very few people this time of year and I was the only person touring 3 of the homes.

I've lived near and visited Philadelphia all my life and recently read about the whispering benches here and visited them in the fall. You can read about them on a few websites but they are really amazing to experience. There are curved benches near the Smith Memorial Arch at one entrance on the Avenue of the Republic. It's easy to park for free right near them for a short time. You and a friend sit at opposite ends of one of the benches and you whisper into the bench (the back side) and your friend will hear you as clearly as if he/she were standing in front of you.I was so amazed by this that I had to write about it so others might experience it.

Fairmount is a beautiful park in the Philly area. It's a great place to get away from everything. I highly recommend the trails. There are various lengths and difficulties for every hiker. I would not stay in this park terribly late, though, as lighting might be scarce. It is a pain in the butt to find parking here, though. The roads leading to and from Fairmount are annoying as hell.

After parking (free for up to 2-3 hours, depending on where) we walked along Kelly Drive and Boat House Row to the Art Museum, around the building, down and up the steps, etc. We've seen the inside many times and will probably return but didn't have time on this visit.

The Japanese Tea house is great. Very serene and educational. I was there for a field trip with my bet friends College.

There are tennis courts and fields, lots of running, there are horses and a great hostel. Really worth the trip if you want to picnic after seeing the museum.

The Valley Green section of Fairmount Park is a great place to visit. Birds to feed, benches to sit on.... Lot's of jogger's and strollers, bikes and horse's. In the Chestnut Hill section of Philly, very fancy homes there, excellent " hill" of shops and restaurant's on Germantown Avenue.

I have went to this place many times growing up and have loved this park. It is a great place to visit and to get away from the hustle bustle of the noisy city. Check it out and spend some time getting away from everything.

I ride through this park several times a week on my way to work. It is a great ride in the morning, especially during the warmer months when rowers galore are training in the Skullykill.

Wonderful place to walk through or take a blanket and sit enjoy the weather. A little bit noisy for the park since major highway is close but the river smoothies it down.

This park is again full of history. We took the hop on hop off bus and they gave us so much information about the park and it's history.

Just in the sequel of the place where stands the Philadelphia Museum of Art, extends the huge green area on both sides of the river Schuylkill. We were on the east coast of the river, that is, in the East Fairmount Park. We walked along the paths, took the bike rides, shooted some photos for the memory, been around the East Fairmount Reservoir, the artificiel lake.A lot of people managed to take their time to enjoy in the fine day, sunny and clear without any clouds. They preferred to jog as usual, to take their stress from working hours they had in the last week. There are some nice stone statues in the park,as Florentine lion, then further going in the interior of the park, the Fairmount Water Works and very nice Fairmount Plateau from what You may have splendid view at the Center City in the distance. After the visiting museum, it was perfect idea to get there in the park, to have some rest off the city bustling hours.

Fairmount Park is a great place for photos and biking. Be sure to climb the stone tunnel near the Glendinning Rock Garden near the Girand Avenue Bridge. Climb up, go through some woods and then over the street and down to Glendinning Rock Garden for a short adventure.

On the 27th of September 2014 We that is my lady and myself were married at the Mansion amongst friends of our (WURD) What a beautiful setting the Manion and the park it is in has the most breath taking views of the city and as a back drop for a wedding such as ours in the most historic city in America at a place that to us symbolised the endurance of a people's fight for freedom. The park itself is a relaxing and reflective place to visit.
