sleeping bear farms

We visited Sleeping Bear Farms for the wine tasting in their new tasting room. They have wine, mead (honey wine) and honey available to taste, and the tastings are free. The honey was amazing! Everyone in my group loved the flavored creme honey (lemon, cherry, and raspberry were our favorites), and we all purchased some honey. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. We got to meet the bee keeper, and he answered all of our questions. We'll definitely be visiting Sleeping Bear Farms again.

Sleeping Bear Farms is a full-scale honey operation (6,000 hives spread on farms throughout the area) that has a really nice variety of honey for sale, including creamed lemon honey (yum!). It has also begun a mead operation (mead is honey wine) and a small winery with grapes from local vineyards. The building isn't much at the moment, but they do offer tastings of mead, wine and honeys, and they'll soon open an adjacent St. Ambrose tasting room. This is a nice place to see a real "up north" business operation.
