Fresh air and a little excercise is great for anyone. Mountain bike trails are challenging and fun! The top of the hill can be reached from the stairs on the front face or from the trails that wonder around the back. The view of the lake from the top is the best. There are benches and platforms at the top to take in the wonderful view.

Just drive south on lake Street from downtown Boyne City and you will see the sign to Avalanche Mountain. Its a lot of steps to the top but when you get there you can sometimes see Charlevoix and Lake Michigan! Its lovely year round, during the winter you can see all of downtown Boyne City since the trees don't have leaves and it is so pretty! There are even trails at the top if you want to explore even more.In the winter there is a skating rink of sorts just to the left of Avalanche Mountain. My kids spent hours sliding down the snowbanks on the side of the ice rink, in addition to having fun on the ice. We also went tubing down Avalanche Mountain. One of the best days we had last winter.
