the heathlands

Played a day prior to Arcadia. Good value, nice layout with nice elevation changes. Disappointed, however, that they are letting several strategic bunkers grow in. Sign of the times, I suppose, or too many complaints from the regulars.

This is a nice course with some challenging holes but very playable. The problem we had was a foursome going off in front of us on the turn (they just started on 10) so we ended up having to wait on shots even though there were only them and the six of us on the whole course (and it started to rain as we waited). The guy in the pro shop was less than helpful. Will probably go back because we liked the course (even tho it's more expensive than the Manistee National courses? ?)

Great place, great prices, great service. Loved the burgers at the turn. Would visit again and I bring more friends next time. Maybe make it an annual trip.

Each year we go to NW Michigan for a golf trip centered around Arcadia Bluffs. Yet we also be sure to schedule a round at the Heathlands. It is a genuinely fun and enjoyable place to play. It is not the most difficult, but it is a varied, and interesting track, weaving through orchards, woodlands and links-style holes. It has some truly scenic holes, and sweeping elevation changes. The heart of the course are 4-6 on the front, and 14-16 on the back. Hole # 15 is a reminder of Treetops, and 14 is one of the best risk/reward holes I have played. A must play on your way to Arcadia Bluffs.
