While visiting friends in the Canadian Lakes/Stanwood area, we went to Tullymore to play golf. what a treat! The course was absolutely beautiful and worth the time spent! I have played some great courses like Muirfield and Firestone and I thought that this course was well manicured, challenging and a real treat!
My fiance and I sgined up and paid to stay at tullymore at a golf expo in March. We recieved confirmation emails saying we were all set for our anniversary weekend to stay there. We drove almost two hours up there in a awful rain storm. When we arrived to check in they had never even heard of us. They were completely booked. They offered us a hotel 20+ miles away. We would of had to travel that back and forth several times , so we decided not to do that. It was a waste of time and not what we originally paid for. We asked for our money back. They said 6-8 weeks we will get it back. It is now mid September and still nothing!! Bunch of bull crap! The customer service we talk to to get our money back is stupid. Advice: dont go here. Its a headache!
Compared to St. Ives this course did not come close to meeting my expectation. Simple as that. Having played the world over, this was as disappointing a day as ever experienced. Even the "marshals" seemed indifferent to the paying guests. Glad to get back to "my" club. St. Ives, on the other hand was spectacular. Simple as THAT!
Had a awesome and relaxing time in Stanwood Michigan had a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, full kitchen and livingroom very beautiful resort !!
Excellent service. Very good food. Try the omelets. Great view of the golf course. One of the few places were the cook knows how to "baste" eggs.
I was traveling with a large group of golfers. We stayed at the Cottages of Tullymore, which were incredible. The golf courses were "country club" caliber. The service and food were impeccable. I would highly recommend this place for a golf trip or even a northern MI getaway.
Spent a golf weekend at Tullymore. 11 guys were supposed to be in hotel rooms, but they weren't fully constructed yet. SO, we were upgraded to the Tullymore Residence Club. The condos were fantastic. Right on the 18th fairway. Zach (our shuttle driver) was fantastic. He took us everywhere. He even brought us a BBQ and propane tanks. Played St. Ives, Tullymore and Royal Canadian. Royal Canadian wasn't bad at all, but nothing like St. Ives and Tullymore. Very challenging and beautiful. Highly recommended.
Five guys stayed five nights in the Residence Club #3 with golf package. Four large bedrooms each with two beds--easily accommodates eight. Each room has a TV. Small but adequate kitchen which we only used for breakfast. Can sit outside and watch golfers coming up the spectacular 18th hole. Played Tullymore twice--excellent with very interesting holes). St. Ives once--excellent hilly course. Pilgrim's Run (senior day is Tuesday) once--hilly and very good. Difficult to pick a favorite between Tullymore and St. Ives since both excellent and very different.
I stayed at tullymore for one night on a work trip. The lodge is an amazing space and everyone agreed it would be perfect for a family reunion or work retreat. Mike from the pro-shop and crystal from reception provided phenomenal customer service by tracking down a pair of shoes I had sent to the resort and making sure I received them in time for my meeting. Thank you!
Group outing to Tullymore - the setting was pretty, but the golf courses only meet expectations for what is considered a good golf course. There is nothing spectacular our amazing. The waitstaff in the restaurant was terrible - took over 30 minutes to locate the 1 guy in the whole place who had a key to the wine locker. Then the server brought out a different (inferior) vintage than what was on the menu. The lodging was adequate. Meets the minimums, again nothing to get excited about. This resort has a long way to go if they want to compete with the true first class resorts out there.
This is the third year in a row that we have golfed Tullymore & St Ives GC in Michigan. Both courses again in fabulous shape.(despite the rainy summer we have had). Service from starters, to back shop, on course cart girls and pro shop was top notch. We love it so much a group of us are going back in September for a few days. The Inn at St Ives is good quality, basic accomodation and very close by. Ryan , who books the golf and accomodation has been wonderful to deal with on the phone and in person. Service from him was yet again A+++++!
We went to visit the wineries and see the state, therefore the central location. We didn't mind an hour or two drive to see the sites. First, the room was horrible. We had a "kitchenette" that consisted of a mini-firdge on the floor, with a mini-microwave placed on top. Not meant to be there, but placed there last minute to justify the price.....our other complaint was the mold in the shower, disgusting. The golf course is awesome, just stay somewhere else.
The Golf Course setting is beautiful. The fairways and greens are well kept. The course is very challenging and seems to be designed primarily for golfers with single digit handicaps. Those with higher handicaps will find the course frustrating and very difficult to play. Almost every hole had a carry over deep weeds or water between 75 and 150 yards from tee to fairway. The only break is that most fairways are fairly wide. The real sad aspect of Tullymore Golf course is that it is extremely expensive to play. My wife and I paid $224 for 18 holes (this supposedly included a 30% discount). Nothing else was included, not even a cup of ice water or a towel. Anything purchased from the roving cart was very expensive as well (a snack size bag of chips was $1.50). There are many, many golf courses in Michigan that are just as nice as Tullymore that you can play for half the price. This course may receive rave reviews from many, but it is not worth the cost.
This is a beautifully groomed course, use the golfers tips to place ball in right place. No gps on carts but well marked. Beer is $4.50 a can , so bring a lot of cash or fill your bag. They don't serve any alcohol on Sundays before noon. We replayed on Saturday for $45 they wanted $65 and we offered $45 they said OK. Will be back again for sure played St.Ives before and after tullymore, both were great but different in so many ways. Tullymore you have to play smart and place the ball in the correct spot or you will be in trouble.
This is a beautifully groomed, tournament style course that will thrill even the most demanding. Each hole is screened from the others, so you can enjoy your game without seeing golfers.
