This place is very pretty. The bar and restaurant is very nice and the people were nice as well. The water was a little nasty especially in the hot tub there was a band aide in there. But the slides were fun and the food is awesome!
Great Family Fun, Everyone including management was Kind and courteous to all our needs and concerns. Always something happening and the kids always had something to do never a dull moment. Great entertainment and Good Food. Loved our Thrall Bred Suits !
Been going here a couple times a year for a few years. Thoroughbred suites are the nicest of the choices you have. People are friendly, relax or enjoy the activities...fruit stand down the road is family fun!!!
First Time There And was Good as I thought it would be if not better. This was a great place, me and my girl friend had such a great time . Every one was so nice and friendly. The cabins we very clean And nice, Food was Great And so much to do. Would like to seen a great job to Emily And Travis, Great people and went out of there way to make sure we had a great time. The owners should be proud to have very good people working for them. Will be back again ,CANT WAIT
I went 7/25-7/28 and went to the indoor water park everyday and their was a lifeguard named David that was very nice and cute. All the lifeguards and staff were amazing. I had alot of fun....(in the water park) and I enjoyed the friendly service... P.s. I got a picture with David :)
We just visited the ranch for the waterpark. We were staying near Silver Lake, but it was cold that day and decided this would be fun for the kids. We took a 1, 2, 5, & 8 year old as well as 4 adults. We all had a blast!! The waterpark was clean (other than a trash smell by the check in desk, yuck), the lifeguards were very attentive, and the staff were very friendly. It wasn't crowded when we went (Wednesday around 11:00am), so everyone was able to ride the slides and play with the equipment at their leisure. It was FANTASTIC!!
We went there when we stayed at the Double JJ ranch..it was a nice little waterpark...I dont know if I would make a special trip for it but the kids had a ball
I took my family here on our yearly vacation the first week of July 2014. We stayed in the cabins in the back forty and could not have enjoyed that part of our stay more the cabin was clean and the staff was friendly. There were tons of activitys for the kids to do that were included in our stay would go back anytime! The water park however was a huge let down we went the Monday following Electric Forest and they warned us it was going to be dirty Monday and a lot of clean up going on so when we got to the water park and there were gobs of hair gum and band aides everywhere I was totally understanding but when the same hair, gum, and band aides were still there on Thursday it was just gross. The locker rooms were nice from the aspect of privacy we go to a lot of indoor water parks and this is the first one with private changing rooms. However there was not a swim suit dryer and it was so dirty with the same filth on Monday as was there on Thursday. I understand that things happen and there will be things out of order but there was only three slides that worked and one hot tube on Thursday non of the kids play areas worked the small slides was out which should have never been open my daughter and I went up it when we got there and the lights were broke in the stairway you couldn't even see 2 feet in front of you so when we go to the top I had to tell them it was dangerous to be going up stairs in the dark like that and then they closed it but that was around noon or so, so there is no telling how many people went up in the dark before us and they were aware of the problem! The pool for basketball and volley ball was very dirty I wouldn't even let my kids go in that pool it had a bad odor to it too. The lazy river didn't have a current so you had to walk through it. The adult hot tub was closed all week and the waves only worked on Monday. The water guns by the small slide were a cool and fun idea for kids except they had the pressure of a power washer and were knocking kids on the ground. My son shot it at me playing not having any idea what kind of force the had and it knocked my head into a metal angle brace and left a bruise that's how hard my head hit from the pressure of the water guns for kids! All and all the water park had poor management and it showed that no money was ever put back into it. It looked to me like they expected the lifeguards to do everything and they put making sure peoples lives were safe before cleaning which that is right but they should not be expected to clean and maintain the pool and the locker rooms and the towels. Oh yes and it was anywhere from $3-$6 for a locker at most water parks it is .50 cents for the whole day.
Nice and remote location outside busy town schedule which is nice. Good for one day stay nothing more to do than that. Staff was too mechanical - when I informed them I will be checking out a day before the planned date, they just completed the formalities w/o even asking for the reason. Not much food options either - expensive in house restaurant.
Pool is dirty. Lifeguards could care less about the safety of anyone including small children. We had a 2 year old with us. Parents and kids jumping in the lazy river right next to us. This facility is a waste of money. Unless you enjoy dirty surroundings.
I hate to be negative, so I want to start out by saying that the set up for this place is great for kids my age (4 & 6). Everything is really shallow so my 4 year old could touch pretty much everywhere - the lazy river, the wave pool, the indoor/outdoor hot tub, so it made her feel like a really big girl. My oldest was tall enough to go on enough of the water slides that it was really exciting for her as well. Now through a jaded parent's eyes, it feels like this place is falling apart and management is not doing enough maintenance to keep things going. I'll use the lazy river as an example - there are these water guns attached to pulleys that are designed to fill up, move side to side, and dump water on the lazy river floaters. The don't move, and they don't fill up any more, they just have a steady stream of water coming through them. In regards to the Goldrush theme of the place, there was also this yellow well head feature that is supposed to pour water on the floaters, but it was broken too. The well head was very rusty, the water was reduced to a trickle, and it was REALLY cold. Finally in the lazy river, they have what look to be punching bags hanging over the lazy river in the shape of gold sacks and dynamite and when you swing them, it is supposed to trigger an "explosion" of rough water. Well, you hit them, it makes a noise, but nothing happens. There are similar examples all over the park that make you feel like they need to step up their maintenance. Also, what made the park a blast for my daughter, made it somewhat frustrating for an adult. If my four year old can "touch" almost everywhere in the park, that means that there aren't many places that are deeper than mid-thigh. The hot tub that goes outside (really cool idea, right?) means that I had to curl up in the fetal position to try to keep most of my body in the water. Forget about sitting on the benches they had.In the Sundance, where we had dinner Friday night and breakfast on Saturday morning was COLD! I don't think it was much warmer than 60 degrees, and we were seated next to a broken door where you could see outside through a gap in the door. Our hotel room was in the Lofts, and it was clean for the most part, except for the random piece of foam maybe from the HVAC system that was sitting on one of the beds.It was a fun experience, but we only did it because we were given a hefty gift card for Christmas. If paying full price, you better believe we will drive the extra few hours up to Great Wolf Lodge.I also need to be fair and say the staff was great, from the ice cream parlor, to the DJ playing music to dance to, everyone greeted us with a smile and a warm hello. They seemed genuinely happy that we were there.
Most of the stuff was broken or closed. Hot tubs and kids items were not working properly. They should discount their already inflated prices if they are not going to maintain the property in working order.
We only went for the day to snow tube, originally was going to stay but due to poor reviews on water park and rooms being run down and dirty chose to stay at hotel in Grand Rapids and just go for the day. Snow tubing was fun but very expensive, have 1 price that goes from 10am - 10pm so for those only going for an hour or two (which is more than enough, it became boring to my 11 year old) it is a bit overpriced to ride a tube down a hill ($18). Also you can not go down with little ones, they have to be in a tube by themselves, so after two trips down the hill my 3 year old was done. The room in which you can sit and watch and/or warm up with hot chocolate ($3 a cup) needs some serious repair as to the ceiling tiles. One was so bulging, looked like it was going to explode any minute. Other tiles were discolored where their were previous leaks.
We visited this place for a day trip. This is actually our second visit. I have never been impressed with this place and after visiting a second time I can safely say I don't think I will be back. It is $25 per person for a day pass to the water park. That means for a family of four it is a crisp hundo. For that kind of money I expect more. The water was not particularly well balanced or chlorinated. The spa was shutdown for most of the time we were there. Also, one of the water slides was shutdown and the kids splash pad stopped working after about 2 hours. They also had a number of broken play things through the toddler splash area. The spa had a swim outside type of thing that was crudely boarded up with plywood. Which did not add to the ambiance of the place. In addition to that they did not have lifeguards monitoring certain places in the park which mean that unruly children with no adult supervision were running rampant. The locker rooms were super cold and they were not that clean. There is limited seating. The food at the lunch counter place was terrible.
The kids love it! The slides were a blast! It is VERY hot in there, so if you are not swimming, be sure to dress lightly!
