star line mackinac island hydro-jet ferry

We decided to visit the island on a whim and were able to catch a morning ferry with no trouble. The departure times are frequent and well posted. The ferry is fast, the crew is friendly and efficient. We are glad we chose Star Line.

Good St. Ignace pier location and great Mackinac Island pier location. Very quick crossing. Prices are competitive with Sheplers and they have more daily crossings than the less expensive Arnold's, so you have more flexibility. The crew has some comedy routines they've worked out for announcement and are a good bunch. We've been on all 3 ferry operations now and were very happy with Star Line.

It can be confusing, trying to choose between the ferries, since they seem so much alike. In the end, we chose White Star because they had the best schedule. Be sure to check the web site for deals, because they have a good one for three adults traveling together, and the one we used, which included tickets to the fort.The ferry is the best part of going to the island. You go beneath the bridge, for some spectacular views.
