I stopped by the Fisher Building after a visit to the Motown Museum (which is a 2 minute drive down the same road) as I wanted to witness this piece of architectural and Art-Deco grandness form Detroits past. It was built in 1928 and has been called 'Detroit's largest art object' and once you have been inside it's cavernous interior you will understand why! There's a coffee shop inside the building and some other shops and offices. You don't need long to tour this landmark (1/2 hour is ample) and it's well worth it for the lasting impression this historic office block leaves you with. Top Tip: Go upstairs as the views and décor from the upper levels takes on a new dimension, then take the old Art Deco Elevator back to the ground floor.

It won't take long to stroll through this fantastic building, but you must do it because you will never forget how beautiful it is. Built in one year with an open budget for beauty. Why can't they make them like this anymore

While attending a performance of "Once the musical," I spent a little extra time walking around the public spaces of this Art Deco gem. Built in the 1920s to house the offices of the Fisher Brothers ("Body by Fisher" for GM), they pulled out all the stops when decorating this place. Pewabic tile is installed in several places and the light fixtures are amazing. Several shops and restaurants are also in the building. The only disappointment is the Fisher theater itself, which was redecorated in the 1960s and looks sadly dated compared to the timeless décor of the rest of the building.

Make sure to join one of the tours run by Raw, makes the experience even better and you get access to the top floors that way

A must see during your Detroit visit. The building is beautiful. In addition to the fabulous theater, there are boutique shops and places to eat. On Saturdays Pure Detroit hosts free tours. Check their web site for times.

The Fisher is one of the classic gems of the city of Detroit. Not only is it the home of many of the outstanding touring casts during the year but the building is the home of the leading AM music station, WJR, lots of unique stores and offices. The architecture is from a time no longer around. A must visit.

They have free tours of the building, given through out the year.... And you just show up, no need to reserve any time

Beautiful inside and outside, walked through the building so had a good look at the lower floor, very hushed, felt a bit like a church

Great theater for a play. Not a bad seat in the house. The sound in vibrant. The Building is a step back into time. Thank you for preserving such a great Detroit Landmark.

Iconic building from the golden age of architecture. Beautiful interior---must be seen and savored. Home of the Fisher Theatre, where Broadway in Detroit plays. An Art Deco Stunner.

It's a nice old building and if you happen to be in the area, sure have a look, but if you're going out of your way to come look at it... don't waste your time... go see something anything else.... ANYTHING ELSE!

It was fun going through the lobby of the Fisher Building. The building is an icon in the Detroit area and is quite nostalgic.

Another great architectural landmark worth visiting! After reading about this building in a Detroit travel publication, we decided to include it in our travel plans. The interior of the building is superlative in every way, and words and photos do not do it justice. Be sure to go to the second and third floors for alternate views of the main floor and close-up views of the ceilings and chandeliers. While there, also check out the Pure Detroit shop for local souvenirs. This is the largest of the three Pure Detroit shops (also located at RenCen and Guardian Building).

I have been going to the Fisher building for many years it is a must see. Most of my visits now center around going to shows there its a great place to see them. Parking for a show is easy as it is right next door. I had the afforded luxury of working in the Fisher building as a housekeeping mgr so I got to see the place from top to bottom to really appreciate all that is there.

Lets face it , the 70s were the black hole for revitalization and architecture ... ANYTHING redone in the 70s was done wrong.. Fisher theater included.. The rest of the building is magnificent though.
