Thanks so much for the review! Just wanted to let you know we now have indoor seating for the winter months. We usually open it up mid-November on a regular basis through the cold winter weather. The Owl's Nest building is just across the street from the tasting room on Jackson. It seats up to 40 people on a chilly day. I apologize if it wasn't open or offered on a day that you came to visit but we'll have it open and ready for your next trip to see us. Check out our Facebook page for a recent photo of the Owl's Nest in the snow! Thanks again and have a wonderful week!- JessicaManager ~ Augusta Winery

Made a recent stop here over a lovely weekend. Crowds were low, but it was still fairly early. Wine tasting was free and pretty much everything we tasted we enjoyed; especially their seasonal hot apple pie. Would definitely stop back by here again.

This was our second stop and we had a great experience. Same wine that's sold up the hill for $66 was less than $20 here. Our hostess was great and very knowledgeable. They also have a huge outdoor sitting area up the hill with live music but it was very crowded and we still had other wineries to assault.

Thank you for your feedback. I apologize you were not met with our usual friendly smiles and open door upon your visit. As a policy (similar to other businesses in the alcoholic beverage sale industry enforcing 'last call') we are required to cease pouring full samples at our tasting bar 30 minutes prior to closing and cannot sell cold or room temperature beverages for consumption on the premises 30 minutes prior to closing. The last half hour that our business is open is primarily to allow ample time for our terrace guests to pack up. This also means we would be open for take-home sales only during the last half hour. I respect your decision to not purchase wine without first sampling the product and apologize for the confusion in not having our policy clearly posted for review and consideration when planning your travel time. I will be making the appropriate adjustments on our website and will confirm with staff members that the policy is posted and stated clearly in the tasting room. Again, I am very sorry you were not met with the pleasantries typical of the service at Augusta Winery. Please feel free to contact me directly by emailing manager@augustawinery.com with any further concerns or questions. Thank you. ~ Jessica, Augusta Winery Manager

We live about 45 minutes from Augusta and visit at least once a month. We try not to stop into the Augusta Winery tasting room on every visit because we usully walk out with a mixed case of wine. Yes, their wine are that good! My wife is a big fan of their dry Vignoles. I go for the Chamborcin and Norton. Great staff!

We rode the Katy Trail and stopped at this winery on a corner in town, up the hill a ways from the bike trail. The staff who did the pourings were very nice and knowledgeable, helping us pick two bottles (one for there, one for home on our bike). The wine we purchased for there was from a reserve collection -- very tasty (but cost extra just to taste). They also serve various cheeses and assorted crackers, so we had an impromptu picnic on their shaded patio that overlooks one of the main streets in town. They set us up with plates and napkins, and it was a great location to people watch on a lazy Saturday afternoon.Overall impressions -- The tasting room on the corner isn't very large, but it wasn't a problem because it wasn't very busy. The staff seem like they really are glad you are there, and are very good about explaining the various wines as well as helping you make a selection. They don't rush you like some of the larger wineries. There is a nice array of gifts available in the tasting room.Unlike some of the larger wineries, we saw they allowed outside food on their patio. We'd come here again -- good wines, pleasant staff, great people-watching location.

We stopped by on August 3rd. for some FREE sampling. We ended up purchasing a bottle to go with the food we brought with us. Yes, they allow you to bring your own picnic basket....refreshing! You can sit under the covered patio or walk up the hill (50 yards) and sit at their outside patio. They has some good live music playing on Saturday. We come here often, and take advantage of their discount pricing on volume purchases.

My wife and I stopped by to do some wine tasting while staying at a local B&B. Such a great and affordable selection. The employees were very knowledgeable and actually helped us pick out a really great dessert wine. Didn't get to enjoy the wine garden but it was great to listen to the music as we came in and left.

Stopped her to do some tasting and ended up buying a couple of bottles. There were also some cute gift items for sale.

This was a great first stop on Saturday afternoon. My wife and I enjoyed the tasting, and then enjoyed the live music at the Wine & Beer Garden. It is a great casual spot to enjoy wine & music - in addition many people brought snacks/picnics.

Winery was all centrally located, just don't go in the heat of the summer. whew...too hot, even if you have the breeze or a shade. It's more enjoyable in the spring or fall - especially when the trees are turning colors

We were in Augusta during the annual Candlelight walk and the winery was open late for tasting. They didn't really want to let you taste all the different selections of wine; however, what we did sample was very good. We even bought a bottle of the Blackberry. They also had a hot apple pie wine and it was very good. They have a nice beer and wine garden where they had firepits going. All in all, it was a great experience.

People come to Augusta, Hermann and the other wineries in Missouri with different goals. Some come for the view and scenery, some come to see what a winery from days gone by looked like and some come for the wine while others are looking for a fun location with a little of all the above. What you will get at Augusta Winery is good, friendly and personalized service with above average wine, perhaps some of the best in the area. It's wine is now sold in such Cosmo cities as New York. While its perhaps not the greatest view or most impressive facility, I find its wine is consistently some of the best in the area. Combine that with wonderful service, and no matter how you cut the deck, you have a winning hand.
