First I do not have any toy trains, although I do enjoy watching trains, I have plenty of pics, and I enjoy looking at the craftsmanship of toy trains. Having said that I thought this place was absolutely wonderful. The owner is a very pleasant and friendly lady. If you have time visit with her she herself has a neat story and loves trains. Her dad work for the NYC subway for years and I guess instilled her with a love a trains. Ask her to see the picture of her dad on one of the subway cars, really neat pic. Anyway the review on here that said it cost $11 bucks to see the museum, I bought something and admission to the museum was free. Now I don't know if this was an off season deal, as I was there in January or its a year round policy but it sounds like to me they were wanting something for nothing, anyway the museum in a decent sized room with many train set ups to see. I true train guy could spend hours in here.
this is a cool lace to stop and see all of the different train memorabilia. we have been here a couple times.
If you are a model railroader you will want to see it. Nice model trains to watch, and you can get model train supplys also.
This was the highlight of our trip to Hannibal. My ten year old train lover was in heaven. The owner was kind and knowledgeable. It was nice to see the pride she put into her museum. What a great chance to see her awesome collection. Even the adults had fun opperating the trains. I will never forget the joy on my son's face. Thanks!
My grandsons enjoyed all the trains. The owner of the store/museum was very nice. If you collect trains, she has pieces you can buy. The cost of $5 for a family was reasonable, I thought.
So glad we stopped for a visit. Out train lover was so excited to push all the buttons and see the trains and accessories work. $10/family max was well worth the 45 minutes we were there.
Not a huge store but packed with trains to buy or to look at. The huge train display in the back is worth seeing and you can even operate some of the features. Even though a sign says there is an admission fee for the display, I think the owner lets most anyone in for free. We tipped her some as we enjoyed the trains and the gesture.
We popped into this shop to kill some time before taking a tour through the Haunted House on Hill Street next door. We hadn't anticipated going through the train town but when the owner saw us looking through the store she offered our family free admission! We were blown away at the magic when we stepped through the curtain. My kids loved it and so did my husband and I! It's very interactive with many different buttons that cause different reactions in the "town". The best part was watching the owner with my kids. She seemed to get so much joy out of watching the kids' excitement and enthusiasm. She offered them whistles and spent time playing and talking with the kids. It was obvious to us that she was a person that not only loves coming to work every day but also loves her customers (Even the non-paying ones!). We will definitely be back the next time we're in Hannibal!
This is a little known train display that can be fun for all ages! In addition there is a small hobby shop located in the front of the store.
My husband likes trains and use to have a setup in our basement so this was fun for him to see their different setups and trains. He found a train that was the name of the train that use to go through our town. It is a small room but okay. Also they have a little gift shop.
Staff very friendly and helpful and they have a full line of H/O and model train accessiories for young and old.
We had a wonderful time! The grandchildren always have a difficult time with "look but don't touch" museums, but this one is kid friendly! And a large variety of trains too! From Chuggington and Thomas to scale model railroads, this place has it all! AND the lady who works there OWNS the place! She is so helpful and friendly, and if you are looking for a specific item, she will either help you find it, or order it for you! Love this place!
The trains were fun to see and the small fee was reasonable. The friendly gentleman working was a joy.
I happened upon this store while travelling through Hannibal to visit Mark Twains' birthplace. Hanniball is an AWESOME town and this store is GREAT! If you LOVE trains, KNOW trains and are EXCITED by trains you MUST STOP HERE!The Owner, Judy greeted me with "Hi, if you need help let me know"! No "high pressure" sales here. The store offers an excellent selection of merchandise in a small space. After I started my shopping, Judy invited me to see the Museum and Train Layout (at no charge). It in INCREDIBLE. Several kids were there with their parents/grandparents and you should have seen the look in their eyes! It really is incredible and impressive!I learned Judy moved to Hannibal from New York and her admired Father retired (I think as an Engineer) from the New York Subway system. Judy's love of trains (not to mention her incredible and detailed knowledge) is a tribut to her Dad. It was fun discussing trains, Amtrak, Pullman, NY Subway, etc. What a vibrant, energetic, friendly and knowledgeable person!More than two hours later (and purchasing more than $400 of train items, some of which I "negotiated" pricing with Judy) I walked out VERY HAPPY. I will return as soon as the next few months-there was so much to see and I want to hear more train stories from Judy!PS to Judy if she sees this review: I finally remembered the Amtrak route names I took: The Empire Builder and California Zephyr! Thank you for the stories, bargains and advice!Mark F
If you want to buy toy trains this is the place! They want $11 per person to "visit" the museum, which looked no bigger than a large living room
