Love this farm, drove from Branson to visit the farm and I really enjoyed the visit, I had some quesadillas with shiitake mushrooms,salsa and had a wonderful blueberry muffin just out of the oven, the little restaurant is small but I can't wait to visit during the summer because it has windows overlooking the farm so I'm sure its a delight around July where you can enjoy great food and a relaxing view of the farm. I had a lovely conversation with Juanita and she was super nice and helpful explaining everything about the farm. I totally recommend this place for a nice day trip..

Don't be fooled by the name. Berries proliferate. The best we've had there are the beautiful, plump blueberries we've picked ourselves and taken home to freeze and use when they're out of season. Our last visit we left with 10 pounds and that may not have been enough.They have a nice store as well as a restaurant. You have to try one of their (blueberry) Thunder Muffins - huge and delicious. Just don't wear heels or dress shoes.

We are not much for the typical tourist activities and shows of Branson, so while there we decide to visit Persimmon Hill Farm. We called ahead and we were glad we did because they only allowed picking on certain days that week. On the week we were there, we were able to pick blueberries and blackberries. There were multiple varieties of blueberries and these were our favorite. The blackberries were a little more tart. The bushes were loaded and picking was easy. For those not interested in picking, you can buy pre-picked but those sold out by the afternoon that day. There is a small cafeteria with items featuring blueberries and as mentioned in other reviews, the muffins are really good. We cook a lot with mushrooms and my husband has always wanted to shiitake kit. I noticed on the website the farm sells shiitake log kits for ($18.95). I did not see the kit in the area with the other items, so I asked for it and the cashier informed me that they would get one together for me. I had to wait a few minutes but a gentleman brought the log up, explained how to keep it until we got home and how to start it. He also provided written instructions. I have to admit, I was skeptical because it looked like I just paid $19 for an 18" piece of firewood , but we soaked the log as directed and in 4 or 5 days had some really nice looking mushrooms ( see photos). Overall we had a nice day and got some great blueberries (and mushrooms) out of our visit to the farm.

Persimmon is worth visiting when in the Ozarks and/or Branson areas. They Thunder Muffins are fantastic. Buy more than you plan on eating, because you cannot get enough of them. (Warm them in the microwave for 30 seconds to get to heaven.)Obviously one of the best times to go is during the prime of blueberry picking season. We were a bit early this year, but still fun to walk the area and let our children see the berries and blooms. The mushrooms are well known and served at many area gourmet restaurants. Food is top notch!! Owners and employees make it a great place to visit.

Unfortunately due to late weather we were unable to pick blueberries so instead we sampled! Food is delish! Would like to come back to actually pick!!

I love going to this place in the mornings to order freshly baked blueberry muffins. They are to die for! They also have some excellent mushroom dishes! Yum!

If you like nature, fruit on the vine, and a good restaurant, then this is the place to visit. It's a little hard to find, but it is worth it. They have blackberries, blueberries, and all kinds of fruits that you can pick or they will pick it for you, and they are delicious! They have a small restaurant that is really cool and their food is unique and good.

This is a fantastic place to taste many different ways to get fruit into your children. They have muffins, shakes, slushes, pancakes,and much more.

We were there for their Blueberry/Mushroom Tasting Festival. They had a buffet of various blueberry and mushroom concoctions that were absolutely wonderful! Great place for the family to "pick your own".

Picked blueberries, and ate at their restaurant. Had pulled pork sandwich which was good but little on the well done side. Their Raspberry sauce was really good. I bought a bottle of that and a bottle of blueberry syrup which I can't wait to try.

The blueberries are awesome whether you pick them yourself or buy a bag while you are munching on one of their delicious blueberry muffins.

From Dogwood Canyon heading west on 86 (about 2 mi, right at Tracy Hollow Rd (where the closed Conoco is-follow the Bear Signs), "bear"ing left (like the signs abuse the word ("bear"). We picked blueberries which just come into season the day before (June 7) and bought jars of jam and shared a pulled pork sandwich. We shared a blackberry cobbler with ice cream. What flavor! It is a nice thing for the family to do together. I bought about a quart of blueberries for about $1.80. The jams are $4.95. They have beautiful mushrooms here for purchase and mushroom sauces. They have a small outdoor rustic picnic area and a nice staff to take care of you. What a nice experience. Go after hiking or biking in Dogwood all day, we did. Have a great time.

Drive about a mile past Dogwood Canyon, Big Cedar Lodge's nature preserve. Watch for the signs to Persimmon Hill. It is off the beaten path. It is an outdoor sandwich shop and pick it yourself farm which grows blueberries, blackberries and shiitake mushrooms. We picnicked with shiitake quesidillas and pulled pork sandwiches with blackberry barbeque sauce. About $6 each and wonderful. The we shared blueberry/blackberry cobbler with ice cream. Wonderful. They have frozen unbaked cobblers to take with you--or if you call ahead they will bake for you (about $25) We visited after berry picking season so the owner showed us how the mushrooms are grown. Fascinating. He sent us off with some huge blueberry muffins for breakfast. What a great place to visit. You can also order their products on www.persimmonhill.com. The dried shiitake would make a great gift for any chef.

We have only been to this berry farm once (June'04) but we look forward to returning. It is a quiet, clean, family-owned/operated farm with different berries to pick, and delicious products (muffins, sauces) to buy. In June and July, they are open daily from 7am to 7pm (Sundays: 12pm-7pm). Hours vary the rest of the year; They have a very nice website for more information. In fact, their website is so nice, I was expecting the farm to be more tourist-y, but it felt more like a home. It was started in 1982, as a dream of the owners who say on their website: "The Persimmon Hill Farm concept was never about being the biggest; it was always about quality and especially about the taste." It is located close to Dogwood Canyon (another fabulous place to visit), and is about 15 minutes west of Big Cedar Lodge / Big Cedar Wilderness Club (wonderful resorts in Ridgedale, Missouri). I did not rate it Excellent because it is the only berry farm I've ever been to, plus I thought it could use a little bit of fresh paint. Fresh paint, flower beds, paved parking... well, sure, I could turn it into a tourist-y place really quick! Maybe it's nicer the way it is - relaxed, with delicious, high-quality berries.
