This place was awesome! It was an old elementary school that they turned into a winery! The wine tasting was a lot of fun and they had a lot of selections! Their Cayuga White was delicious! Purchased a few bottles to take back home with us! They had a huge variety of novelty items for sale and very reasonably priced!! We will be back for sure!!
The cheese meat and bread tray is perfection. We were pleasantly surprised by an amazing musician to entertain us outside. Loved the blueberry warm spiced wine!
We were skeptical as we drove up to what looked like an elementary school in the middle of a corn field, but it was fantastic! They really did an excellent job of decorating, keeping elements of the old school building (like the chalkboards), but also classing it up a bit. We ended up doing the full wine tasting. For $5 each, we got to try all of their wines plus the wine slushie they were selling by the glass. We ended up purchasing a bottle of their blueberry wine. Great wines, inviting atmosphere, very reasonable prices. I highly recommend it!
We frequent this winery more than all the rest (in the KC area). Located in a the middle of a beautiful field, there are lots of places to sit and relax (inside and out). You can bring a picnic, buy a bottle, and relax of hours. They also offer a large variety of beers, scotch and bourbon flights, and of course, their own yummy wine. A great visit!!
Stopped at Riverwood today on our way home. It is in an old elementary school and they had live music in the old gymnasium. We sampled their Asian Pear and Apple the Asian Pear is interesting as they grow all of the pears themselves. Of course we had to purchase a bottle of each.
We recently visited with family and had a great time. We chose to pay the small fee to taste all the wines and were surprised with a bonus sample of wine slushy. The wines were more than typical Missouri wines, the Riverwood Asian Pear is our favorite by far. But of course we usually stock up on a varity when we visit!I would reccomend trying the wine slushy. This is fairly new to me as I have only seen these in a handful of places withn the last year, but wow are they yummy! I had to purchace the Peach Bellini mix to make some at home the first time we went. When we made it family and friends they couldn't belive the taste. I love that they offer family friendly events such as yoga on the lawn and live music and many yummy items from the kitchen that pair well with thier wines. This is the kind of place you can relax on the paito with friends and just get lost in the moment.
Located in an old school building, this winery has friendly staff and good wine. They also have nice outdoor seating for enjoying a glass and picnic outside. We went on a weekend and was able to walk up to the bar and begin tasting. They have a free option and a $5 option. The wines were good and the staff knowledgeable. The wine slushy was perfect on a hot afternoon! Was happy to learn that the owners keep everything local meaning local fruit and Missouri barrels for aging. It is on a nice wine trail that is near KC.
The location si rather cool- an old school from the 1940s/50s. They do the entire process there. Grapes are grown nearby. I may sound like a wine snob but Missouri grapes just aren't as good for wines as west coast grapes. But, they do a decent job and are very friendly.
This winery is very unique. It is located in an old school house. The wines are wonderful! The staff is very friendly. There is an outside place that you can bring a picnic or you can sit in the gym. My husband and I love going to Riverwood!
This is in an old elementary school. The wine was good. I actually bought a nut brown beer there that was really good. Wine tasting is free. There was no cheese tasting. They were sampling international wine the next day, wish we could have gone to that. Fun stop on our tour.
Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon at Riverwood Winery. Started off with a free wine tasting of about 6 or 7 wines. We then purchased a couple of our favorite wines, a cheese and bread tray and sat outside in the garden and listented to a wonderful music duo. Was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon with friends. Fee only applies if you purchase anything from the gift shop or purchase wine/food trays.
