A really fine array of wines for every taste. Reds, whites, sweet and dry. During the summer the patio and porch are great places to sit in the shade, or get a bottle and head down the highway to Meramac Spring Park. (Not the STATE park -- the one west of the winery on Highway 8 -- the nice folks at Peaceful Bend will give you directions.) In the winter, sit in the tasting room with the dogs next to the stove.Probably my favorite winery in Missouri, and not far from St. James and Herrmann.
If you like sweet wine, this is the place for you. Me? Not so much. But I did find a dry white wine which was drinkable. It reminded me of a vinho verde - very young, and green with an effervescent feel. My favorite part of the vineyard were the staff in the tasting room, along with Maggie & Pepe. The tasting room staff were very friendly and truly cared about your experience. Sometimes you don't feel that at other, more well known wineries, like in California. So that was very refreshing and we really appreciated that. But the highlight for me, was Maggie and Pepe, the resident vineyard dogs. You just can't get any sweeter than Maggie. What an awesome, loving dog. Before she showed up at the winery, she was obviously the victim of abuse. But they have her all fixed up now and she wants for nothing. Pepe is her son and he loves to hop up in the chair next to you to visit. We sat on the deck just off of the tasting room. However, you can also walk just down the hill, where you can sit and listen to some live, local music. We found the experience to be quite pleasant. And if we are ever back in Steelville, we will definitely go back. We have to get more kisses from Maggie.
Wineries have become big business in Missouri. I've watched over time as little wineries grew into big, crowded wineries. The wine was just as good, but the atmosphere wasn't. Peaceful Bend has a great relaxed, casual atmosphere. We walked there from a nearby cabin and met a friend who lives in the area. Since the day was an early warm day in the spring, we started tasting with the dry whites and chatting with Katie. The Cuortois was very good, but the Dry Creek was amazing. Clyde, one of the owners, had us try a sparkling wine he was working on. We sat down at a shaded table and ate our catered sandwiches which were good; next time we'll have the cheese and sausage. We chatted with other patrons and our friend. We had another bottle and just an outstanding time. Can't wait to go back.
Stopped at Peaceful Bend Vineyard on my way through Missouri. It was a great place to wine taste and visit. The hosts are wonderful. The winery and surrounding land is beautiful. Tasting their wines while conversing almost caused me to forget to leave. Stop you will not be disappointed. Thanks Katy and Clyde I will be back soon.
Nestled near the Meramec River this little winery is a great place to stop and have a glass/bottle of wine inside during the winter or on the patio in the spring/summer. Katie and Clyde are wonderful hosts and very knowledgeable not only about wine, but of the surrounding areas as well.
Whenever we travel through Steelville, a stop at Peaceful Bend Winery is a must. We've visited this quaint winery at east twice a year for the last 12 years. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable of their craft and willing to share their expertise with an easy going manner. The wines are very good and we always leave with several bottles and a renewed appreciation for a couple living their dreams. If the weather permits take a lunch and enjoy your favorite wine outside...it's really worth your time.
This is my favorite place to end up on a Sunday afternoon to just chill out and drink the most wonderful wine! Clyde and Katie are the perfect hosts and make me feel like family when I visit! I go here as often as I can. I can not say enough good things about their wines ... Very, Very, Very Good!
The wines are very good, but limited selection. We bought 5 bottles add to our collection
This was a small vineyard with a knowledgable and friendly owner. I found wines I enjoyed and therefore purchased.
Nice small family owned winery and a beautiful setting. Great tasting wines and a great place to chill out. Everytime I take family/friends to try their wines everyone is always impressed. Great place to hang out after a float trip of hike.
Another very successful Missouri winery. The grounds are beautiful and the wine is excellent.
The Peaceful Bend Winery is on the peaceful bend of the Meramac river and it exudes its name very well. Clyde and Katie have a passion for what they create in their wines and have a passion for serving people as well. If ever in this neck of the woods of Missouri, this is a MUST STOP. Bring a sandwich, have a bottle of wine on the property and leave your cares behind. No worries at Peaceful Bend. Salute!
