Now is the time to see the Eagles and their babies. Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area is breathtaking. Beautiful rock bluffs with all types of migratory birds to see and photograph. A wonderful learning experience for all ages.

Eagle bluffs is managed as a public hunting area as well as a park and game preserve. If you will take the time, the species of wildlife and the varieties of birds, especially those that live on or around water is mind boggling. With the Mo river on the west and Perche Creek on the east as well as the fact that for a portion of the year, the conservation department floods large areas of the bottom and at other times diverts water through the ponds in the park, I know of no better place to learn about wetlands and the animals that live there. I almost never visit without seeing some new natural wonder. Additionally the views of the river and overall area are amazing! I usually go in late afternoon to maximize my opportunities to observe wildlife. April-May and October- November are my favorite months to visit!

Love to go when the geese and ducks are migrating. It is blocked off in areas during waterfowl hunting. Last trip saw three young bald eagles, lots of blue herons. Have also seen swans, beaver, otter, deer, white egrets, etc.

Eagle Bluffs is one of Missouri's managed waterfowl hunting areas during duck season. There is a daily drawing to get a chance to hunt there, performed both on-line prior to the day, and a morning drawing on the day of the hunt. The place is small, so not many people get to hunt per day. If you do get in though, it can be really good if you hit a flight day.

The lakes and river in proximity to agricultural areas make for some excellent habitat. Plenty of bottomland and hardwood forest along with marshy and wetland areas make for a very diverse birding experience. We saw dozens of species in a very short trip.

This is a well managed wetlands. The area is large and easy to access. Bring a camera and binoculars. Depending on the season of course, you can see various waterfowl, deer, eagles, etc...There is also a very nice parking lot that butts up to the mighty MO River, and some trails. Great views, greats photo ops. Most of what you will see is in a natural state. Don't expect paved trails and city park type environment. This is a wildlife area and refuge. If you want pampered, fake-believe wildlife habitat and viewing, go to the zoo. I love this place! Natural raw beauty! MO dept of Conservation manages this place, and I have to say they do an awesome job!

The Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area is a great place to get away and enjoy nature. It is very large with many roads/turnoffs. The best thing is the scenic overlook off the Katy Trail- it is a rigorous climb but so worth it! Gorgeous scenery and you can see for miles.

I was in Missouri in November and there were still gorgeous orange leaves on the trees. Being from south Texas, I was in awe at how orange and red those leaves were. We hiked down to the river edge and it was like being in a history book. The expanse of the river was amazing, and the bird and deer were in abundance. It felt like I was the first person to be there. Of course, as we hiked back to the parking area I spied a plastic bottle in the roots of a tree, and the image wasn't quite the same anymore, but it was still a spectacular visit!

I've only been here off the Katy, the overview is a bit of a climb, be sure to go all the way to the east end. Great view. You can see maybe 3 miles and thousands of acres- I've watched a mamma deer and two fawns mess with herons.You are often above the vultures.The climb can be slick if it is wet, even more so if you have on clipless shoes, so be careful.

I love to see how many different critters I can find each time. The best has been several species of ducks, trumpeter swans, beaver, deer, otter, and Canada geese.

Bring binocs, cameras, field guides. We have observed multiple varieties of birds, herons, ducks and even pelicans. A great way to spend the morning, afternoon especially in the spring and fall when migrations are occurring.
