Friendly folks provided some Q&A outside the alpaca pen and we saw some young 'uns, then we spent a while in the shop. I couldn't help myself... bought two beautiful winter scarves, suitable for men or women. Great place.

Interesting for adults and children. Family run business, very friendly and informative. We have visited in the past with our kids, and on that occasion saw an hours old baby starting to walk around. They have alpaca wool for purchase in several stages as well as native hand made items from S. America with fair trade arrangement. Can see several of the animals up close.

The owners of this small farm and shop are friendly and the animals are awesome. Such amazing creatures. We bought some excellent quality socks and a scarf made from alpaca wool. Locally made as well as imported crafts are available.

This wonderful stop is located just off Milepost 204 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. For your GPS, type in 1563 Misty Trail, Fancy Gap, VA 24328. If the GPS takes you up the paved part of Misty Trail first, just know that it will turn into a gravel road, and yes, despite the fact that there aren't any signs telling you otherwise, you are still going in the right direction. As you get closer to the alpaca farm, Misty Trail runs parallel to the Blue Ridge Parkway for a bit.I don't even know how I came to know about the Peaceful Heart Alpaca farm. I followed some link online which lead me to their site. I try to visit this area once each year during the summer, and this year I was determined to try to find "new" places to visit and this alpaca farm fit the bill. One of the owners (a man) greeted my mother and I outside as soon as I arrived, and patiently explained the names and ages of the alpacas that you could most easily see. Then, he took his time to explain all of the wonderful items in the gift shop. Truly some unique hand-knit pieces from yarn made from alpaca fur. I really wished I could have bought something more worthy than small trinkets, but I live in the deep South where there's not much need for winter hats, etc. due to the heat. Beautiful store, pricey because of the quality of the fibers and actual handiwork, but worth it to own something from these cloud-soft beautiful animals. The alpaca animals themselves are so cute and friendly. You can pet them if they come up to the fences, which at least three did during the time I was there. There's no other animal who could possibly be this soft on the planet. What a unique experience! Stopping at the Peaceful Heart Alpaca Farm will now become a yearly stop of mine! Loved it, and would recommend it to everyone, age does not matter here.If I could suggest anything to the owners, it would be to have more signs so that new visitors can be certain that they are going the right way... perhaps one at the bottom of Misty Trail, one again when the road turns to gravel, and one by the small road which connects the Blue Ridge Parkway to Misty Trail. I found it, no problem, but had my doubts at certain points.

This place is right off the Blue Ridge Parkway. You can stop by and look at the adorable alpacas. Sometimes you can see the recent baby alpacas that have been born. They also have classes where you can make your own scarfs and other things from alpaca fur. There is a store where you can find many alpaca products. The fur comes from the many alpacas they have on the land.

We visited the Alpaca farm in September 2012. We met with the owner, a charming lady who told us how they moved from California and got the Alpaca farm. When we visited, many of the items in the gift store had been taken to their stall at the famous Labor Day Flea Market in nearby Hillsville, VA. We got to see and feed the Alpacas. The older males were more friendly and the little ones were quite shy :) Overall a truly wonderful experience! Highly recommended !
