I really enjoyed walking through each floor and just looking and touching all the different fabrics.
I loved this store. They have a wonderful mix of old and new fabrics with great prices. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I was able to find so many wonderful fabrics that if I do nothing but sew for the next three years, I may come close to using up all the fabric I bought. If I am ever in this area again - I'll be back!!! I had my family drop me off so that I could spend the time I wanted in the store. With three floors of treasures, it took me more than an hour to see most of them.
I have loved this place for years. Not only is it chock full of all kinds of fabric and accessories, but it's such a cool building, a relic from the past that I always greatly enjoy going there. Amazing trims for curtains, etc. I can't imagine what one reviewer gave it only 2 stars. So happy that this wonderful 'old' place has been in business for such a long time, and has changed so little. Please don't ever change!! There are those of us who appreciate you so much!
I'm a quilter, so that is the kind of fabric I look for. There is some new mixed in, but you have to really look past the old to get to it......I will say though, I enjoyed looking at the extensive selection of trims - not something I would normally buy, but it was fun to look at.
OK, it's our only fabric store, but as a costumer, I find people from all over piling fabrics and trim up for their fantastic creations. The formal room is just to die for. Do not bring your checkbook in there, just look, and feel... In the back building, I find bins of buttons, upholstery scraps, foam, carpet bits, boxes of zippers and such, from our sewing factory past. Main floor, the calico room- quilter's paradise. In the entryway, is a bench for the patient friends and family of the fabric-obsessed. To top it all off, Jerry asks me about the latest news, my family, and my life. This is fabric therapy, at it's best!
Schoolhouse fabrics is an old four story school house that is filled from top to bottom with fabrics, buttons, bows and any other sewing gadgets you can think of. super selection of fabrics at reasonable prices and very friendly staff
Lots of fans so in summer rather warm! Selection is enormous and have been there several times for unusual items, toile, etc. The owners are very helpful and know their stuff. Some very lovely finds even if you come to just explore! Would recommend for anyone looking for fabrics, quilt materials or plain fabrics. I just enjoy looking at the choices!!
An old high scgool, with one classroom loaded with buttons, another with quilt supplies, another with lace of all kinds, dozens of selections of velvet, of cotton, it goes on and on. We always take out of town guests there and they are stunned and find items not available in the big city. In an adjacent building, a custom foam business.
