Family owned Vault field is well worth a stop. The tasting room is small and is quite "homey". I like the boutique style wineries and the wines get better year after year. The best time to visit is barrel tasting time! You learn so much about their wines and the operation. Mark this one on your calendar!
I've been to a lot of wineries in Virginia and Vault Fields is one of my favorites! It's a small winery, family owned and run, but the wine is high quality. Unlike some wineries, I've never had a bad bottle of their wine. I can't say the same for many wineries. They don't have sweet wines, but have great white and red wines. If you're looking for the corporate wine experience, Vault Fields is not it. But if you want to visit a small family winery that makes great quality wines, give Vault Fields a try.
We happened on this wonderful, family owned winery a couple of years ago and continue to return every chance we get. They have quality wines for the true wine lover. They do not cater to the kool- aidy fan or the super sweet loving wine cooler fan, but if you really want to savor a scrumptious Virginia wine for a reasonable price- Vault Field is worth a visit. The family who owns the winery or the super knowedgeable staff will spend the time to really give you a quality visit and make sure that you enjoy yourself and leave with the experience that you came to enjoy.
It was a pleasure meeting you and I'm glad you enjoyed the tour of the winery as well the wines. Cheers! - Keith Meenan, Winemaker and Owner
Did you ask to use our restroom? It is open to the public and handicapped accessible. If you noticed, our tasting room is part of our active winery. We are one of the few Northern Neck wineries that actually produce our own wines ON SITE. Health and safety issues prohibit direct access to the bathrooms from the processing room. Since opening, we have had thousands ask to use our restroom with no complaints. Several have commented that they appreciated the cleanliness and privacy of the bathroom. Next time you're in the area, stop by and have a flush on us. All kidding aside, next time you are going to be in the area, call ahead and we can give you a tour of the winery, beyond the barrels you see as part of the tasting room. Most people are fascinated to see how the wine is actually made and all the various equipment involved. All the best.
Thanks for your comments. It's unusual for my staff not to talk up the wines. If you can, please let me know what day and approximate time you were in. Also, VA ABC regulates the amount we can pour at a tasting. We do have a restroom. It is open to the public, handicapped accessible. Health and safety issues prohibit direct access to the bathrooms from the processing room in the winery.
Thanks for the review!
Thank you!
Thank you!
The staff has been made aware of comments and we'll try to do better in the future. Thanks.
