Great camping sits on the best lake! Made you feel at home! Can't wait to go back and have reservations for Memorial Day weekend this year and bringing along lots of our friends!

Stayed in the park cabins Apr 2014 for a Kerr lake fishing trip, very impressed with the cabins, the cleanliness of the cabins, and the overall park. The park has great boat launch ramps with plenty of parking. I highly recommend this place.

Occoneechee has a lot to offer. All types of camping, tent to lodges- book early during the season. Boat rentals, well groomed trails and more to explore. Great education and vistors center. Very well kept, looking forward to going back again.

Have been here several times.the high temps were 40 fish lows in high20s. So when I say the restroom in c loop was the warmest pplace around I'm not joking! it was well heated an the water was hot! Always love coming here. There's plenty to do.fishing swimming boat rentals. Trails all in one great location

We try to go here in October and rent a cabin for the weekend. Be warned, no television, phone, radio & wifi. The cabins are beautiful and have everything anyone one need. You will have time for plenty of relaxation, read a good book, curl up in front of the fire with a cup of hot coco. The park is beautiful in the fall. Be sure to go to town for a wonderful dinner at Coopers Landing.

We have stayed in the campgrounds at Occoneechee State Park dozens of times, and we have always had an awesome time. This time we stayed in Cabin 8, and I didn't want to go home! The cabins are huge and comfortable and EXTREMELY clean. Everything you could ever want is provided (except for a t.v. lol, but who needs it when you're on the lake?) for a relaxing experience. The wrap around porch with rocking chairs was a fabulous place to enjoy your morning coffee and look at the lake. We lit a fire in the fireplace every evening (they evening provided the first bundle of firewood free of charge). You will need to purchase additional bundles of firewood from the office for only $4. You may also want to bring some board games, etc., for rainy days! The kitchen was modernly equipped with fridge with ice maker, coffee maker, stove and toaster. You may want to bring foil, coffee filters, coffee and salt and pepper. We grilled out one night on the grill. There's no fire pit, though. (they really need one!!!).The lake is huge and clean and Clarksville is a wonderful little town. We recommend The Lamplighter Inn and Gino's Pizza if you don't want to cook. The park is beautifully maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit! We will be back again in May!

We stayed in Clarksville for a couple of days and spent 5 hours in the park. It is really worth a visit, it's beautifully maintained and the park staff are so friendly and helpful. There's great accommodation with all the facilities you would want. We absolutely loved it.

It is clean and a beautiful place for walking and camping. It would be even better if there were a swimming pool..

We loved this park! From the helpful directional signage, to the friendly park staff (who even let us check into our cabin early!!) to the well-maintained grounds, this is a super destination for all ages. The campgrounds were neat and clean, the boat ramp near the park office was very convenient and perfect for launching kayaks/canoes too. We loved the two-bedroom cabin and found it perfect for six people. We can't say enough good about the cabin--a good quality building with everything you need, as well as many nice features such as wrap-around porch and grill/fire pit area with picnic table. The park website truly gives all the real specifics on what you need to bring--don't bother bringing duplicates because they do an excellent job stocking and inventorying these cabins, not to mention cleaning. Very comfortable, enjoyable and thoughtfully assembled. There are hiking trails (though we might not recommend the Beaver Pond Trail, as it really was not maintained), plenty of places to go walking/running and even a really cool archery range we happened upon. There's enough to do just at the park to fill up a long weekend plus some. Highly recommend!

There is plenty to do here for everyone. Fishing, hiking, bike riding, boat rentals, archery range, pick your poison! We camped in an "orange" lot which is water front. Some are more water front than others but with a bigger travel trailer we actually like the spot by the bath house. Park staff was friendly and helpful. Took the wagon ride to the archery range and back the kids liked it. Camp sites are quiet and are set up nicely. Bath houses are clean. Overall very nice.

We had to pick to weekend of the WORST storm but we refused to leave. Mr Howlett wa the BEST hostess we've see in the state parks. He made sure we were safe and good everyday. He even drove around the entire park checking on everyone else. He was awesome! The park was clean and very nice also. We liked the boating and space the sites had. The bathrooms were clean and every lady knows THATS IMPORTANT ;-) Can't wait to go back. Hope Mr. Howlett is there.

Cabins exist. Lots of trails. Fireflies by the millions at dusk...the most I have ever witnessed in my life. Very clean. Easy to get in and get out. Great boat launch and trailer parking is ABUNDANT! This park has been rated number #1 in the nation...when you visit, you will see why.

This is the first place my husband a I went after buying our camper. We brought our dogs, and had a great time!!

Hit the road to another great Virginia State Park! Tried something new...rode the Harley with tent gear, collapsible fishing pole and all in tow. Friendly, helpful staff...ranger was kind enough to deliver our firewood to our tentsite without us having to ask. Wonderful visitor's center, honorable displays of 'The Occaneechi Story'. Clean, roomy bathhouses. Get a waterfront site, if possible. # 19 offered a gorgeous view (also with partial shade!) of Buggs Island Lake. Don't forget bedrolls or some form of padding beneath your sleeping bags! Our site was coated with pea size gravel. Plenty of excellent trails, we enjoyed Terrace Garden because of the history and solitude. Great restaurants, easy scenic drive across the bridge to downtown Clarksville.
