We didn't have time to pick our own berries, but we stopped in to buy a few pints. All the berries were yummy and the peaches too. Very pretty spot, could definitely spend a nice afternoon there!
Went there to pick a pumpkin but got a whole lot more. Goats that walk in the air, making scare crows. Petting goats and feeding them was great. Very family oriented.
Incredibly helpful staff and fruit vines (blackberry, raspberry, blueberry) bursting with fresh, juicy fruit. Or if you're lazy, just purchase what they've already picked at the peak of it's freshness. And the kids will adore feeding the goats, luring them up to the overhead bridge for corn and petting the friendly goats in the petting area.
Fun, cheap, and nice. Spent about an hour picking blackberries. I'll never purchase blackberries from the grocery store again! They were plump, sweet, and delicious. The staff was very helpful and friendly as this was our first visit. We will return.
Fresh berries, ice cream, scenic views, and goats up high. Yes, that's right - goats. Right outside the shop, the family has set up a walkway that probably goes up as high as 30 feet in the air. When the goats hear the sound of people pulling a cup with food in it to the highest point - a landing - at the of the walkway, the goats walk up there and have a snack. Children and adults enjoy watching the goats. The berries are delicious and fresh, but as others have mentioned a bit pricey. They have a small cafe serving lunch (sandwiches, corn dogs, chips, and soda or pop) from about 11 - 2. They also serve very good ice cream either at the cafe when it is open or in the shop at other items. I suggest getting an ice cream with fresh berries - it is a berry farm after all.
This is our second time here and we found it to be a fun place to pick your own berries. We actually did not pick our own this time around but have done so before. We got a fresh baked pie and some blackberries. The pie was excellent and the berries were to die for. My wife says they were as large as quarters and I say some of them were larger. I made a blackberry sauce that we put over vanilla ice cream. Yum! There is no fresher berry than the ones you just picked. They beat any farmers market berries. Oh, Don't forger to feed the goats.
It is wounderful! Eveything fresh. Plenty of room for the children to run around. The view is AWESOME. Snack bar is not to bad......do not have alot to offer but it's ok.
Have always gone to the Berry Farm for fresh produce, and considered it THE place to take visiting friends and relatives. There were always large bins of local produce, baked goods and potted plants for sale as well as garden flags and yard ornaments available for purchase. We had a large family reunion on July 6 (2013) and several of us went there to get the corn, beans, tomatoes, onions, etc for the picnic. Was deeply disappointed and embarrassed on July 5 to find none of that anywhere in sight, the shelves all filled with commercially prepared canned goods, and the vegetable bins gone completely. There was no activity in the kitchen, no fresh pies, nothing I could be enticed to buy.Have no interest in going back.
It's fun to visit the Berry farm--it's pretty and quaint. But you can get in-season produce much cheaper at the local supermarkets and certainly at the many farmers' markets in the area.
This large berry farm has a good store selling an assortment of fruits and berries--they also have baked good, lunch items, ice cream, etc There are activities for children and a nature area with walking/hiking trails. A GPS comes in handy since it is in a very rural area of the Northern Neck.
Off the beaten path is a wonder farm with a view to die for! Sitting on the ridge overlooking the river you see field of fruit trees and vegetables! We arrived during the Harvest Fest and were so excited to see the great baked goods, preserves and sauces! You have to try the Apple Salsa! The goats with their ramps are so much fun to watch! The staff were friendly and helpful. We highly recommend a stop here!
A real nice place to visit. We bought a berry pie that had just come out of the oven - still warm. Excellent blueberry preserves, fresh apples and peaches (in season). Picturesque views of the Rappahanock River. A little out of the way, but really worth it.
My kids loved it. They got to feed the goat, play on the playground, pick berries, and eat hot dogs and Ice cream.
We spent a few hours here with small children and they had a great time. The season wasn't for picking berries, but the kids played in the playground, fed the goats, had lunch, and overall had a nice afternoon. The food was very good and the gift shop has a good variety of products. Overall, a nice place to hang out on a pleasant day.
We go here every year on father's day to pick berries. The view from the top of the hill is wonderful. The atmosphere is relaxing. The berries are delicious and it is great fun as a family to pick your own. The animals are fun for the younger family members. We bring the berries home and make jams that we use all year and give out to friends. When you are here, it feels like you have stepped out of the busy hustle and bustle of the world and into a relaxing retreat. I love this place!
