I must say 1st of all great staff and boss. It was Veterans day 11 NOV 14 and they were supposed to be closed. They require 6 pople for a tour. My frined had just drove up to Atlanta. They did not know I was still in the Military until I got there. They stayed open for us and Katy was an Excellent guide and Instructor. Very Funny and just made the whole experience great. She even took pictures and coached us along on the course which made even easier. I will be coming back. They even have Canoes and Cabins up there. We will be renting them and they are good prices. Where else can you go out have fun in the country and still run wild lol. Thank you for the good times Git R Dun lol..Sincerely,Robert ParrishSSG, U.S. Army

We brought a group of 10 & 11 year old boys to the Adventure Park for the high ropes and zip-lining courses. My husband and I participated as well. The staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They did a great job of explaining how to use the anchor and tether system, and the zip line "truck". There is a low mini-course each participant must complete before moving on to the actual attraction. We all felt completely safe the entire time. What a fun and exhausting time! Both adults and all the kids are athletic, yet we were still challenged by some of the obstacles. It can be challenging to keep 7 boys of that age occupied for a stretch, but this place did it and then some! Our 2 1/2 hours on the courses flew by!We definitely plan to go back again!

We had a fantastic time in the late summer at the Adventure Park at Sandy River Retreat. The staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and had a lot of wonderful things to say about how the site is managed - although the location speaks for itself! It is beautifully constructed and maintained, and is both safe and challenging. My husband and I are very fit and were there for three hours, and barely finished all of the courses - we really got the full value of the entry price. Best of all, each of the courses and ziplines were tremendously fun. I'd come back again for a date, with a group of friends, or with kids - and I'd even come back and stay in one of their beautiful cabins! Definitely check this out and enjoy an afternoon of adventure in the trees.

My team and I had an awesome time! This was a Capital One team building fun event (about 23 people) for my team. We had from mid 20's to mid 50's in our group of all shapes and sizes; each person said it was the most fun they had for a work outing! I worked with the adventure park expressing what I want out of this for my team; they exceeded my expectations. Katie & Brie were so enthusiastic (employees) leading our group through multiple team building activites. We had a catered lunch under the pavilion (Fishin Pig, suggested by them) that was wonderful and then we spent 3 hours "ziping" through the trees. It was great seeing our teammates cheering each other on and encouraging one another to do the next rope course. What a great and memborable experience! Most of us are planning to come back with our families.

We had a great time! Below is a funny clip of my husband ziplining! Be prepared to get a workout. It was a little more challenging than we expected. We loved the experience though!http://youtu.be/t0GXzm1mZyY

My husband and I (ages 25 & 21) bought Living Social coupons for this attraction and have heard plenty of good things about ziplining. It really is all that it is cracked up to be. You had to get used to it at first of course, but there was a quick training lesson. It was easy enough to get the hang of it (pun intended). No pressure through the whole course. Everyone just took their time to get through the hard ones and cheered everyone else on. It is a great date opportunity- we used it for our first Anniversary outing. The obstacles really do get challenging with the "Black course," but totally doable. The prep on the website says that you should be able to do 3 pull ups in order to get through the course. This is not true. There were many ladies that couldn't do a single pull up that went through the course just fine.

What fun, and what a challenge! I didn't know what I was getting into, but I'm sure glad I did. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The course was challenging, but extremely safe. At no time did I feel that anything could go wrong. I loved the set up....you are on your own to do things at your own pace, but the staff is there at the drop of a hat to help guide you if needed. I'll be doing this again.

Would I do this? Could I do this? The top questions for a 72-year-young person contemplating the zip line & rope course. Answers to both - A resounding "YES"!!! An amazing treetop experience that was challenging enough, scary enough, and amazingly satisfying! Great staff members contributed to a "can do" attitude. Recommending Sandy River to all I meet! And looking forward to a return visit... Thanks, guys, for helping me check another item off my bucket list!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great place for first time zip lining/climbing. My kids (10 & 14) loved it! Reasonable prices, nice t-shirts available. Course has different levels, 3 hours is plenty of time but my kids liked it so much they went 2 different days on our vacation. Reservations are nice because the course doesn't get too crowded. Courses are clean, well taken care of, look nice with lots of climbing variety. Good day trip if you live in Virginia, even better long weekend trip!

Our group of 8 ranging in ages 15-49 years old had a great time (we are all active and in decent shape). There were 3 time slots available, 8:30, 11:30 and 2:30. We chose the 11:30 because we were traveling over an hour and half to get to the park. I think the 8:30 session did not have as many people as we did. We booked in advance with a group rate ($35pp versus $50 non discount) but I highly recommend you book several days in advance since I had other friends who were interested and there was only 2 spots left (Friday session) so they could not join us. I believe the maximum group is 30 people. The guides were very nice and helpful and the best part is that once we were trained to use the equipment, we were able to do the courses independently. The staff (3 people) were on the ground and would shout out instructions if we were stuck or needed help. I appreciated that this was different than other ziplines (we have done three zip lines or rope courses prior to this) that we have been on where the instructors stayed with you the entire time. But this may make some people insecure, being independent. The courses were separated by level of intensity, beginning with yellow, green, blue then black as the most difficult. Our group did the entire course, except me and another person who chickened out and did not attempt black. During the entire 3 hour session, I waited a few times for others but not much, and although we saw other people on the course, it did not seem crowded since people were all spread out in different parts of the course. We used all three hours of the session and were exhausted! We brought our own water and lunch, and highly recommend you bring your own drinks and food. Water cost $2/bottle on the course. You can easily walk from the car area to the course to take a break. There were several different types of people on the course, with most being young adults, but there were families with young children also.My only negative comment is that they need more than one training spot. If there were two areas for introductions/training, it would have been better and faster to start the course.Port-a-johns for before, during and afterwards. Also, you wore gloves and since there was a session before ours, some gloves were damp...not for the germaphobes who may want to bring their own gloves (like workman gloves). There was an option to wear a helmet and we chose not to. We are already talking about doing it again! Go with friends/family and save yourself $!

My husband, myself and our 2 daughters (14 & 17) had a great time. There were about 20 people in our group but once we got started, we really didn't have to wait on any of the obstacles / zip lines. It's well run and a great way to spend an afternoon. Highly recommend.

We had a good time at Sandy River. The staff was great and helpful. The cabins were nice and clean. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. My family enjoyed the zip lining and obstacle courses. I chickened out. Would return for another visit.

My niece and I came in April, and came back this week with 12 family members and friends! Everyone agreed that we should make this an annual family trip. Staff is awesome, cabins are spacious and clean, course was so much fun that we did it as planned on Saturday and then decided to go again Sunday!
